Skinny jeans for curvy girls

Apologies if this has been done before but any suggestions on (reasonably priced) skinny jeans for the curvier of figure? I am a tall size 16 and have never gone near skinny jeans as I usually prefer a wide hem to balance things out but I have just bought a pair of lovely country boots and need skinnies that I can wear tucked in. 'Tis new unchartered territory for me so I'd appreciate the help!

TIA

I am same dimensions as you and find Dorothy Perkins super skinnies the best. I thought i would never be able to 'do' skinnies with my muffin top. Denim are true to size, the black ones you will need a 14. I have had mine for about 14 months, wear them all the time and even the black ones havent faded! I should also mention they are only £25!!

Next skinny jeans are very soft and stretchy and comfortable and only twenty-something pounds. Smile

Wow, lots of of choice on the DP website Rachy. Tbh, even the look of skinnies I find vaguely scary given it's not my thing but one of the reviewers is a size 22 so I guess I just need to man-up!

Will investigate Next too MrsJ - thanks.

I'm 5ft9 and size 16 and have 2 pairs of dp's super skinnys. Love them. Have the navy blue ones and black ones. Previous poster is right, for some reason black ones are a lot bigger than the others, very baggy on my legs, though not convinced could do up the 14's. Very comfy and I don't think i look too stupid in them despite my tree trunks.
Straight cut might be an option if not ready for skinnies?

LolaLadybird · 27/10/2011 23:31

OK, have ordered 3 pairs of superskinny jeans off the DP website - my browser even brought up a code for 25% so excellent value!

Will await delivery with interest. The boots only arrived today and I didn't expect them to fit (v wide calves) but they are great so hopefully jeans will also be successful. My bootcut jeans are quite a snug fit around bum and thigs so hopefully skinnies won't feel too different by the time I've tucked them in boots.

parsnip alert

startail · 28/10/2011 01:27

Perry that's cheeky, I'm quite happy to be a very short fat parsnip once in a while to show off my nice long boots.

dexter73 · 28/10/2011 08:17

Which vegetable should we aspire to looking like Perry?

EightiesChickOrTreat · 28/10/2011 08:26

What are the boots? I am intrigued. Anything that accommodates wide calves is worth knowing about.

LolaLadybird · 28/10/2011 08:43

You see, I've just never understood the point of posting on a thread just to be sarcastic or condescending ....

Anyway my ample calves will balance out my chunky thighs! Wink Grin

These are the boots Eighties - I doubt they are everyone's cup of tea but it's very rural round here and I wanted something practical, espcially when it's wet or snows. I usually buy Duo boots but this time wanted something a bit more 'rustic'.

I was being neither sarcastic nor condescending
skinny jeans often make people look like parsnips

Lola - good website, thanks

My problem is more thunder thighs and footballers knees. What veggie would I be? Sweet potato?Grin

NhameCage · 28/10/2011 12:27

Parsnip alert, rofl. More seriously, I just bought a pair of Levis Bold Curve with £20 off from HoF, also see here. They are not cropped like they look in the photo - they are 32in inside leg - maybe the model is a six footer. God, these jeans are a revelation, I can't praise them enough. Best purchase for an age.

You take the quiz to find out what 'curve' you are. It is a bit gimmicky but if it works then I'm happy.

I don't know how any of you lot manage to buy jeans online, I could never do that, 90% of pairs I try on are a no.

The only bad thing in terms of this thread is that they only go up to a 16 but I reckon a large 16 as I have bought the smaller version of the 10 (10 is a 28 or 29 in these jeans for reference) - not normal for me.

I haven't been able to buy jeans for years, have a big arse and thighs in spite of being relatively slim so thought I would post here in case it is useful for some.

So to update - my DP jeans arrived and one of the pairs are great. The superskinny ones were a bit too snug but these are fab. Also, they are higher rise at the back than the front so can accommodate my ample backside perfectly without being too high-waisted at the front - genius! Oh, and not a parnsip in sight Wink.

Thanks for your help.

Ladies - just have to pass on my find - jeans by Amazing Woman - found a second hand pair yesterday and am comfortably tucked into a size 10 (usually 12) and they are sooo comfortable and hold you in in all the right places. Quick google shows a place selling them for half price so I'm getting some more.

loserface · 02/12/2011 16:48

Glad you found some jeans to fit Lola! I've tried DP but they're always a bit to baggy on my legs and the size down is way to tight.

I bought some Levi curve jeans the other day and they are amazing! Made to fit curvy girls with 3 different curve shapes. They do cost a bit more at around the £80 mark but they last years and keep the shape and colour well.
