What can I wear a cream lace cardigan with?

My mother has bought me a cardigan very similar to this one although it's more cottony than the one in the picture. What can I wear it without to avoid looking like a small child dressing up? Please help, clever S&B types!

I think the trick with wearing one lace item, is to make the rest of the outfit a bit "harder" and not pretty - that way, you mix the pretty girliness of the lace with something more edgy and cool. I would wear this with black skinny jeans and a black vest - very high black ankle boots.

What I would NEVER wear it with - a floral dress (unless it was a vintage style dress and then I'd wear the combo with thick black tights and black boots) - would look way too mumsy and wedding-guesty

maybe a brown/grey/greigey fitted tweed dress.
