Does anyone have this dress?

planet dress

I love it and its a bargain and in theory the side-sweep detail over the tummy should be flattering...but it seems to make the model look a bit rotund?

Has anyone tried it on?

TIA

This is the same but £3 cheaper

I like it.

Me too, especially as it's in jersey rather than something shiny. Offbeat and cool.

I like it and the damsel in a dress model doesn't look round at all. I think the planet model looks like she has those serious control pants on which often make women look a bit rotund IMO.

I'd get it. If I had a reason to wear it I'd buy it too!

Planet is cheaper as free P&P.

Nice dress for work I think!

Thanks all. I haven't bought anyhting from Planet for ages. Is the sizing still very generous?

I bought a Planet cardi a few weeks ago and was ridiculously huge in sizing!

ThatsNotMyBabyBelly · 27/10/2011 20:14

I tried this in black and it was the most unflattering thing on me ever.

I am 5ft9, size 18, but with a waist 36g boobs and I looked stumpy and boxy

And the 18 was stupidly huge.

It was lovely quality though tries not to be totally negative

It's odd. The grey makes it look almost like sportswear but then there's this big gather thing making it look eveningy.

It's a bit like a dinner jacket made of denim. It disturbs me strangely.

Quite by chance I came across the Planet one today and liked it less in the flesh. It's shapeless despite the draping, very long (mid-calf?), and yes, rather big, and has a sheen.
On the up side, it doesn't look like sportswear.

i think that a lot of examples of this style of dress remind me of my pregnancy dresses- you know, when they were ruched so that they could expand to cover the bump. so i think you could only really get away with it if you have a flat stomach, or else you will look as though you are either pregnant or just trying to hide a rotund belly....
