Do you ask for samples of foundation etc before finding?

I asked for a sample of the matt mineral foundation and the lady at the Bare Minerals counter graciously obliged. I love the BM mineral powder that I have (one with light diffusers) but sometime I feel it makes me look a bit too shiney/pearlized.

So do you ask for samples? Do you get them? and does it make you more feel more inclined to buy from the brand?
In my case if I like the product etc I am more likely to buy the full sized one.

Always always always get samples. After too many years of having foundations lurking that i wasn't too sure of i now refuse to buy without trying for at least a few days. And if they aren't happy to give out the sample then i think i will just go elsewhere! And if they don't have samples in stock then i ask for a little pot filled with enough for a couple of days! After buying one foundation that everyone asked whether i wasn't feeling well when i wore it i decided that i was wasting no more money on buying foundation to lie on my dressing table. So ask ask ask!
