Anyone know where I can buy a nice Nordic jumper?

I'm looking for a nice, warm (but not scratchy) Icelandic style knitted jumper for the winter. I saw one in a magazine recently but annoyingly I can't now find it or even remember which one it was and I've just spent half the day googling without success. The only one I've found that I vaguely like is this www.shopbop.com/figure-sweater-one-by/vp/v=1/845524441916937.htm?folderID=2534374302024636&fm=other-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=37660 , which looks lovely but is acrylic, cotton and polyester, so I don't imagine will be particularly warm [also puts me off that they call UK size 12 "large" ? crikey, what next? size 14= "gargantuan"? Bloody cheek!] Found another I liked on an Icelandic website, but promptly lost it again.

Hoped someone might be able to help me out so I can get on with some work ? I'm afraid it's one of those things: suddenly I just have to have one and I can't concentrate on anything until I've found it.

The old favourite from "The Killing".

Hmm, Danish police inspectors must be quite well paid if Lund could afford several of those. But then she didn't seem to wear anything else (except jeans).

Frieda · 26/10/2011 16:10

Hmm ...Hmmm...Perhaps something not quite so severe...

Sorry, am being a bit picky Wink but thanks for the suggestion.

There are a handful of nice fairisle jumpers on asos at the moment - including one that has reindeer on it - can't think of anything more icelandic than that!!

racheltherecycler · 26/10/2011 16:13

How about this? Cardigan rather than jumper but 'nordic' looking and ethical! www.bibico.co.uk/products/huskys-star-cardigan

Frieda · 26/10/2011 16:24

Thanks, Lucy ? I had a look at Asos, but could only find quite a long one which I didn't feel was quite me, but will have a look again as I do like their stuff. Ooh, I do like that, Rachel, and do like to be ethical if I can. Haven't come across Bibico before ? will have a browse. Smile

wrap cardigan half merino but £££

drowninginlaundry · 26/10/2011 18:41

I'm trying to find one as well

the original and the best is Dale of Norway they are expensive though! I want a look-a-likey for half the price, anyone?

HandMini · 26/10/2011 19:59

Accessorisequeen - I love that cardi and that website generally. Do you know about stuff from Wrap? Is it a good place to buy from?

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2011 20:23

Would recommend, definitely. Been v pleased with quality although I haven't bought knitwear from them. Problems with stock levels but customer service is good. Free p&p code is CD70FP and free returns so nothing lost! V generous with sizing. Hth.

HandMini · 27/10/2011 09:58

Thanks so much Accessorise....buying the Svana right now. Here's to a cosy and stylish winter!

accessorizequeen · 28/10/2011 10:59

Hope it's right when it arrives Handmini :)

HandMini · 28/10/2011 12:44

I'll let you know. SO excited. Two days ago I had literally NO winter clothes, and then I found this cardi and had a little spree on GAP/Banana Republic website and now I have a whole load of goodies on the way. Just need to find some nice dark brown winter boots, then I'm sorted skint.

Liskey · 28/10/2011 12:59

Saw some nice jumpers in Tesco today and thought of this thread but I see your sorted. Only £14 though i was really tempted (but went mad in White Stuff last weekend!)

HandMini · 10/11/2011 11:14

Liskey - I think I may yet be taking a look at Tesco. The Svana cardi was beautifully made, soft wool, lovely buttons, great knit pattern, but so huge even in a size 8 (I'm usually 10-12) that it just looked sloppy. If you're a 12-14, order an 8...it will probably look great on you!

SinicalSal · 10/11/2011 11:20

I hesitate to mention it - but Aldi had Nordic looking jumpers on offer last week (I'm in Irl but probably the same across the way) and lovely blankets too. I didn't look to closely to see what finish or material used, but not dear, anyway.

polyhymnia · 10/11/2011 11:49

HandMini Thinking about the Svana IF it goes into Wrap sale at some point. I have a large bust and big shoulders so probably wouldn't look swamping on me.

Can I just ask which colour way you ordered and what you thought of that - and also did the design actually look Nordic in RL, or Aztec?! Hard to tell online.

TIA.

accessorizequeen · 10/11/2011 13:15

Oh that's a pity handmini! Wrap is vv generous. Poly did you know that vest you liked was on offer now, I've ordered myself a jumper as it was £10 off. Am sure I saw a Nordic jumper elsewhere lately, hmmm.

polyhymnia · 10/11/2011 13:22

accesorize, yes, thanks. Just spotted it! May have to take advantage of it.

Am very pleased with my Marie cardi - and also pleased they haven't just reduced it again hugely, which would have been annoying!

HandMini · 10/11/2011 16:24

Poly - it's much more Aztec-y than Nordic and I ordered the cream black mix. It was really lovely other than looking too sloppy for what I wanted. I think the cream/black mix better than grey/red as it meant the pattern was really defined.

SeeLyon · 10/11/2011 16:45

i got the black kew one

SeeLyon · 10/11/2011 16:45

that wrap one is VILEIO

noddyholder · 10/11/2011 16:49

nice

Bonsoir · 10/11/2011 18:40

I saw a really pretty white/green roll neck one in Benetton today. There were other colourways too. Not very expensive.

blossoming · 10/11/2011 19:20

my favourite but £££. Plus you might need a chalet.
