Foundation recommendation needed!

I've run out of my beloved Vie 'One step face base' - I love it because it's very quick to apply (powder-ish), very light, and just helps to even out my skin a bit. It seems like a right hassle to get more - not in shops and can't seem to order online easily. Can anyone recommend a good alternative please? Tried a benefit cream to powder one which I hated... Need something very quick (on with sponge and no need for powder) and very light.

I wear Estée Lauder Double Wear, and swear by it. But this might be a bit heavy for you. They do a Double Wear Light, which I hear good things about.

If you have a decent department store near you, go to the Estée Lauder counter and talk to them. They will give you a free sample for a good few days' worth of wear, so you can see if you like it before you buy it.

I bought Estee Lauder Double Wear Light this morning, based on rave reviews on MN :)

I really liked the look in the store but not sure about it now. Am wondering if it looks a bit "fake" on my skin. However, I am used to wearing Chanel's Vitalumiere which doesn't seem to have any staying power on my skin these days so wonder if that's why the EL base seems heavy in comparison?

They had run out of samples and so I just bought it on the spot. The assistant was lovely though and told me that if I have any problems with it - whether I change my mind about the shade/have breakout or any other issues then just return and they will attempt to find a solution - including replacing the product. I have to say, I was very impressed with the service, having never been to an EL counter before.

Yes, their service is brilliant.

Dior's nude make up is lovely. Its light and dewy looking. Their long lasting one is good too as it looks light and doesn't give too heavily made up a look. They are really good at giving lots of samples in little pots for you to try for a week or two to be sure its what you want!

Maybelline whipped one is most excellent. Light, covers and comes in an array of shades. No powder needed. No good for dry skin though as it sticks in any crusty bits.

All those recommendations are really good (Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is fab, as is the Dior one), but I am going to throw a curve ball and go oldskool as I remember these being comparable to the Vie one;
Max Factor Facefinity compact
Body Shop all in one face base

QuinnFabray · 07/01/2013 20:10

If you're looking for a similar compact powder type foundation, the Estee Lauder double wear powder compact is good, and quite natural looking.
