options are to get a pair of gap mat jeans a size smaller than ones i'm wearing or go on a hunt for normal jeans that fit and will not be uncomfy on scar/require endless pullling up.
first option easy but depressing
2nd option a mission but might look better.

am a short curvy size 16 so jeans are a pain to buy at best of times. was a 14 before pg, sob.

Forget jeans (at least with a zip).
I lived in pj bottoms and dancers' type pants for a few months. You won't be able to stand the jeans or formal pants.
may be something like that, there is a tie at the waist so it doesn't go down. My maternity pants were too over stretched to be worn again.

Keep to the size your are now, your belly will come down a bit but not that much.

will see if they have those, have a feeling that they are going to make my butt look huge tho. Really depressed by the thought of tracky bums for another month. Any other suggestions?

Sarrouels, leggings, jeggings... all those as well if not too tights. Palazzo pants but not practical with a baby you often get your feet caught in the hems.
It depends on what you put on top, some of those will look better than jeans.

longish skirts... anything with soft material and an elasticated highish waist.

Honestly, you won't really care, you will just look at your baby and want to be comfortable Wink

valiumredhead · 26/10/2011 13:14

Oooooo def not jeans, I lived in long skirts after my section.

PJFanClub · 26/10/2011 13:16

I wouldn't go for maternity ones after c-sec as there will be a seam where they join onto the stretchy waistband part which could dig into the scar area.

I got new jeans at around a week to 10 days post c-sec and went for a slightly higher rise just below belly button height. You won't be in them for that long so I'd go for something cheap like new look, dorothy perkins etc

Leggings and tunics are good. I've had 2 sections - I honestly can't remember after the initial couple of weeks clothes being an issue. I think I just wore jeans that were a size bigger. Your scar will be very low - mine is just at the top of my pubic hair - no where near your waist or belly!

scotgirl · 26/10/2011 13:18

Though I do remember my tummy being sore and numb. Primark do good cheap jeans only £8

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2011 13:32

I'm 7 weeks post section and living in cheap Peacocks jeans. Slightly higher rise than other offerings and really comfy. Just bought a 12 instead of my pre-pregnancy 10 and they're brill.

These ones and they're reduced atm.

JollyBear · 26/10/2011 13:44

I wore high waisted leggings and long tops. Jeans were too stiff and the mat ones had the seam on the scarline. Ouch.

sprinkles77 · 26/10/2011 15:15

not maternity ones! Jeggings are great as an alternative to skinnies. If you can find jeans that are comfy, go for it. I bought one pair of cheap jeans after about 6 weeks, and was back into pre-preg ones after about another 6 weeks. The only ones that I really couldn't bear were some very very low rise ones that really were very near my scar. It took me about a year to get comfy in those.

When did you have your CS? I was given a lot of fluids to keep BP up, and they took a long time to disperse, meaning that whatever I wore left horrible red marks for ages, definitely a couple of months.

rarebreed · 26/10/2011 15:47

I am 5 weeks post CS, i lived in maternity leggings and dresses for the first couple of weeks, then bought some cheapo jeggings from Tesco, they are quite high waisted and comfy. I wear maternity jeans as well sometimes, they are a bit big so don't rub the scar, nowhere near fitting in pre-preg jeans anytime soon!

Was anyone elses stomach still swollen this long after their CS? My stomach still feels quite hard so i don't think its all flab ?

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2011 17:30

rarebreed, I'm 7 weeks post cs and in the last fortnight have lost 2 inches from my waist and 6lbs in weight. It's still fluid/swelling going I'm sure.

Hi, I'm 12 weeks post section and I wore yoga pants for the first couple of weeks until the real tenderness eased, then went to New Look and bought a couple of pairs of size 14 jeans for 9.99 each! I then bought some size 12s a couple of weeks ago (was a small size 12 pre-preg and had the waists taken in on all my size 12 jeans 3 weeks before finding out I was pregnant. Doh!). I would definitely recommend New Look - the bootcut jeans have a fairly high-ish waist, well above scar level, and they're 9.99. The straight leg jeans also sit well above scar level and are around 20 quid. So very affordable and you feel so much more human and back to normal wearing jeans instead of sweatpants.

reallygrumpy · 27/10/2011 12:47

I'm 13 weeks post cs (2nd cs) and I've been in jeans 1 size bigger than normal for a while. Immediately post cs I wore yoga pants which are v comfy and reasonably flattering.

nancerama · 27/10/2011 12:55

Get whatever is cheapest! I almost invested in post c-section clothing, but was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans after 3 weeks - new stuff would have been a waste.
