Cambridge satchel company - Love them/ hate them/love the bags/hate the company

I have been waiting for my satchel, since bloody August. Have emailed and twittered and have had no reply.
What the hell is up with them. I have never had such bad customer service from anyone.
They took the money from my account the day I ordered.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

It's a real pity. Got my sister a purple one from them c 4 years ago & was very impressed with the service (& bag which looks great after daily use) Indeed I seem to recall ordering from the after I'd read a post on MN declaring them & their service to be brilliant.

I looked at the Cambridge site but felt the style choice was quite limited. Scaramanga however always makes me spend my money! I have two of their bags; the Jet Set Vintage which is the perfect alternative to a baby changing bag, its size meaning I can carry everything I need, nappies, bottles etc when I have both children with me. My second bag, the Ella satchel is smaller but still a good size for purse, phone, couple of nappies and leaves my arms free for carrying shopping, children etc.
I am lucky enough to live within driving distance to the Scaramanga shop so bought my first bag from there, the second I ordered online due to time restrictions. Both times the customer service was excellent, the ordered bag arrived within 2 days and Scaramanga was happy to answer any of my questions or concerns promptly via their FB page. Scaramanga will definately be on my letter to Santa!!

HMMM, have been waiting a very long time for mine too.....They do respond to my mails and say very piously that they have a precise queueing system so will only dispatch exactly in order which drove me f*ing nuts as I may choose to let someone jump ahead of me if it was for a birthday present - which mine was..... Neice's birthday was now two weeks ago - so look like a very bad auntie. They have a 5m turn over but are run by amateurs who don't have a clue. They drive me truly insane as a company and I pray a rival sets up soon and does it better.

i love the satchels i ordered mine from urban outfitters so i have never had direct involvement with the company.

Ordered one for Christmas for my sister but cancelled as they estimated a 2 month+ waiting list.

Instead ordered from Selfridges website and got it gift wrapped got a couple of quid too. They also had a 15% code floating about at Christmas.

This company is the worst run company I've ever come across. Incredibly I was charged £12 more from my bank account for the satchel that was advertised on the web site. Also when I asked when I would get my satchel this their response on both queries:
"hi, in usual that's because of exchange rate difference and the bank maybe charge fees from you?
and our shipping department is on holiday now, so we can't ship out your satchel soon."
Unbelievable! Due to this and looking at these reviews I have now cancelled my order which is a shame as I never envisaged such poor service.

The founder is very high profile.

Zatchel's are great. Placed order on Monday, bag made Tuesday, arrived Wednesday. Definitely report this company to Trading Standards, threaten them with Watchdog etc. that's just not acceptable service.

Try The Leather Satchel Company FABULOUS!!! They sent me leather samples next day and have made my bespoke satchel in 2 days! V impressed!

Yes, they are SUPER rude. Emailed to ask if they could provide a photo of a bag from the clearance section (the defects are SO badly described) and I got a very snooty email back saying they didn't have the time for such things. Well, get more sodding staff then.

Ended up buying one from ASOS as I didn't want to give them my money directly. Am going to eBay the bag because the fiddly buckles get right on my tits.

They can't seem to reconcile being a small business with wanting to get a worldwide name for themselves, what with their Google commercials, fashion bloggers and designer collaborations. Clearly, they can't do both.

I think that's the problem. They are still keeping to a small business model where you have few staff and get to keep more of the profits.

Just realised this is a bit of a Zombie thread! Oh well, goes to show that they've been providing really shitty customer service for years

I ordered a satchel from them but I didn't like it. I was told my credit card would be refunded when they received the satchel - fair enough.

It took me a lot of emails and eventually a phone call to get my money refunded, not to my credit card as promised, but a cheque.

I would not recommend them.
