What jacket do you have and does it keep you warm in winter? I am searching for a winter jacket that I can also wear to work. Something with a hood which lots of barbour jackets have. I have the international jacket but no hood. Warm enough but I need a hood!

I need to be able to order online.

Why does it have to be Barbour? I have a Barbour international which I love but like your's has no hood. So for deep mid-winter I have just bought a fab Aigle cuckmere. Love it and can't wait to wear it.

DD saved all summer for this www.barbourbymail.co.uk/Womens-Barbour/Womens-Wool-Coats.cat it is lovely, and doesn't scream Barbour. On here yesterday there was a post about Barbour becoming like Burberry and turning 'chavy' apparently (according to dd) the 'chavs' are only buying the quilted jackets.

*I hate the word Chav.

henrythecat · 25/10/2011 22:31

Saffron - which wool coat has she got? If it's a duffle, is it a warm coat? (as in really really warm). Thinking of getting one but only if very warm.

gregssausageroll · 25/10/2011 22:33

It doesn't have to be a barbour but I have been on the hunt for something I can wear through winter, with a hood, waterproof and I can also wear to work and I keep coming back to barbour. Will have a look at what you bought though.

If I cared what was chav or not I'd never wear:

My barbour, hunters, sweetie, pandora or my comfy per una trousers ever!

Don't like the cuckmere. Don't like furry hoods or padded jackets. I have enough padding without adding to it!

I sort of like the duffle saffron but I am 40 and I am not keen on the toggles. It reminds me of an awful duffle my mother made me wear at school!

This one Henry, sorry my link was rather shite last time. It is lovely and warm, it comes up quite roomy tho.

HotBurrito1 · 25/10/2011 22:43

I have this and I'm pleased with it. Very snug, waterproof, goes with everything.

henrythecat · 25/10/2011 22:43

Thank you Saffron, especially for sizing info too, will def be purchasing and sizing down. Your dd has excellent taste!

Greggs - I think if you want warm and waterproof maybe a technical coat might be the way to go. Barbours all look very windproof but other than the down filled one (which is not waterproof iirc), I don't think they're warm in a cosy way iyswim? I think whatever you buy is going to involve a fair amount of Goretex - maybe try North Face or similar?

Saffron · 25/10/2011 22:43

The Georgina one reminds me of my Grandma. Grin
Just been upstairs to have a good look Gregg, I'm sorry I am not very good with clothes, so I can't tell whether it is schoolish or not.
It nice and warm and is a lovely colour.

gregssausageroll · 26/10/2011 07:02

Burrito funny you should post the cameron. It is what I was looking at last night!

I have a waxed Barbour jacket, I got it for last Christmas but can't find it online to post a picture. Has a hood, is nearly to my knees and is really warm. May look a little over-the-top for the playground in central London but keeps me dry!

blossoming · 27/10/2011 14:00

I have the barbour cameron. It's nice. I don't wear it in the depths of winter though. I have an Aigle Cuckmere for that too. I won't be wearing the furry bit though. It's detachable.
It depends how much time you spend outside. If you have a short walk to work the Cameron could be ideal. If you spend more time outside in all weathers, at school gate, long walks etc, you might need something else.

ChooChooWowWow · 27/10/2011 16:39
