Any recommendation for a (reasonably) stylish, long, warm, hooded waterproof coat?

I really, really, REALLY want a long coat that will keep me warm, has a hood that actually covers the head, and will stop me getting soaked to the skin (like today) and looks fairly stylish (this isn't too high on the list I just want to avoid the ski jacket look if I can)

Can anyone recommend such a coat to me?

Is the North Face Metropolis Parka worth the money? (Massively over my usual budget) or the Trespass Ladies Ladna? (though not actually sure these two would keep me dry in heavy rain)

I'd say I'd consider spending around ?100, more for a decent one that'll last a many a year.

Have you tried Lands End? I've bought coats from there, worn them a bit, decided they weren't right, and returned them. Grin

They're practical, and a good range of colours.

You need these threads:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1024935-WATERPROOF-bum-covering-COATS-I-am-doing-the-research-so

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1315391-If-you-are-OVER-57-where-have-you-got-a-good-longish-waterproof-warm-coat

They're long, you might want to make yourself a cup of tea first! Some great suggestions on there though and very informative.

I've recently bought this coat: www.astridsadventures.co.uk/didriksons-elly-women-s-parka.html off the back of advice on those threads.

There's a lands end code around for 25% off at the mo if anyone has it? I deleted mine or it may be on the lands end home page.

Anyone seen the Celeste in Khaki in a 12 online?

i've got this

www.joules.com/en-GB/Womens-Padded-Coat/Marine-Navy/L_BELMONT/ProductReviews.raction

and really like it so far, as the reviews say, its pretty slimline for a down coat.
can't wait to try it when it gets really cold.
