Am going out in a few weeks for a friends birthday, nights out in my life are very few and far between, we are going for a meal and then there is a cabaret show and I have nothing to wear. I am 46, pale skin dark hair 5ft 3 and a size 12 but have a very fat wobbly stomache which I hate and fat knees. i quite like some of the dresses with sheer or lace long sleeves but they seem to stop a bit shorter than I would like, any help /ideas please......... - am thinking black and will probalby end up wearing it Christmas/New years Eve thanks

this, but, model is 5' 8" so maybe too long IRL

this?

over budget but in the sale

lace sleeves IMO chiffon is much nicer if you must have transparent.

Would you not consider a colour? I bet red looks fab on you.

HettyAmaretti · 23/10/2011 16:58

Oh, and spanx (type) pants.

mrsmummy · 23/10/2011 17:04

I really like the first wallis one thank you

wallis dress is also in a tasteful (not too shouty) red, but reviews suggest they might be quite short...

dingdong3 · 23/10/2011 17:13

I like the over budget one (story of my life Grin) and second the spanx type pants and some great 70 denier black tights with a bit of support in them. You'll look fab.

mrsmummy · 23/10/2011 17:22

lets hope the reviewer was 5ft 8!!!

this?

red (I know, but still)

mrsmummy · 23/10/2011 17:37

am quite liking the Oasis one, they also do it in purple which prefer, can't see me in red

Yes the purple is very nice, not as harsh (or predictable) as black.

HettyAmaretti · 23/10/2011 18:01

black again, lace sleeve topshop so go up a size

Still like the purple better
