fenistil gel. and maybe take some oral antihistamine as well. Any hay fever tablets will do.

Sympathy here, I get horrible bites. I'd second the oral antihistimine (Clarityn or similar) and amonia based gel will stop the itching. I think toothpaste might also bring down the swelling.

hydrocortisone cream. I buy in the US -- perhaps they sell it at the chemist here?

Northumberlandlass · 23/10/2011 07:10

I agree. Take antihistamine, could even put neat tea tree oil on.

I was once advised to put vinegar on large bites. It did work, but I was smelly.

The clicky electric shock insect bite device from Boots is also good. Used it in the summer and they healed up much quicker too. Used it in combination antihistamine and hydrocortisone cream.

oral antihistimine
vick's menthol thingy on the bite - it really works!

Bicarb baths are good if they get really bad.

PrimaBallerina · 23/10/2011 15:46

My mum swears that if you apply a thick paste of wet bicarb and let it dry it draws out the poison.
