Fab or drab? Boden plimsols

These are the offending items

In navy. I've bought them because the summer ones were so comfy for running about with toddler. But these are patent and a wole different beast. My husband hates them, and, as I haven't worn them yet, I could send them back - have I made an awful fashion faux-pas? Blush

So are they going back?

Not keen on the patent. They are neither fab nor drab but just ordinary looking.

overthemill · 20/10/2011 18:34

i don't like them much. sorry. my sister has bought lovely leather converses which are the only shoes that fit her comfortably (allegedly)

OneHandFlapping · 20/10/2011 18:39

I bought these and DS1 (17) said thaye were cool shoes. Which is good enough for me.

Jigsaw also have some truly lush velvet ones, but I couldn't justify those as well.

mirpuppet · 20/10/2011 18:40

Send them back -- not worth having a rift over an ordinary pair of shoes.

glitch · 20/10/2011 18:50

The patent is all wrong, send them back.

onefatcat · 20/10/2011 19:13

I love those Jigsaw ones!!!

KateShmate · 20/10/2011 19:22

NOO - keep them! I LOVE them!!
Might even order a pair for myself, quite like either the grey or the purple..
Wouldnt bother me if husband didnt like my shoes - to be honest he rolls his eyes at every new pair of shoes, but I simply say that its me wearing them, not him!

josephinebonaparte · 20/10/2011 19:29

Converse are the best, why accept a poor imitation?

TheyCallMeKipper · 20/10/2011 19:39

Thanks for the replies. I'm cheered that not everyone thinks they are hideous Grin. 'm not especially bothered Dh doesn't like them, but I did wonder if I'd completely lost the plot with them.

OneHandFlapping I really like those. We don't have a jigsaw here so tends to be off my radar; I must look at their website more.

They are comfortable, and I got 15% off and £10 off so they were cheap which was initially the main reason I went for them. I think I'm going to keep them.

Only one person likes them and 5 don'tGrin!!

WillPenn · 20/10/2011 21:41

I like them and have them myself. They are much more comfortable than Converse, which always hurt my feet, and I think they look quite smart. And my DH likes them....The colour scheme also goes with a lot of stuff.

So keep them!

TheyCallMeKipper · 20/10/2011 23:31

dexter73 Blush I guess we see what we want to!

I usually buy a couple of pairs of Boden plimsolls every season and virtually live in them, but have given the patent ones a wide berth this season.

polyhymnia · 21/10/2011 10:29

I also usually buy one or two pairs a year. I particularly like my pewter ones - a dull pewter, not too shiny - but don't personally fancy the patent. Seems a slightly odd combination. But if you like them enjoy them.

Dancergirl · 21/10/2011 11:35

I've got the black/white dalmation spot and I love them!

polyhymnia · 21/10/2011 11:41

There is 30% off on these as Catch of the Day today - the spotty ones, which I think look cute, as well as the patents.
