What can I wear with this colour cardigan?

I bought a v-neck cardigan from Boden two years ago and have never worn it because I just can't match it with anything. It's a red/coral colour with brown buttons (I think) and is a normal length. The colour is strange as it isn't red per-se but it is certainly within the red family IYKWIM. Any ideas what I could put under it? Colours and also what shape neckline to wear under a v-neck cardigan?

I've got that one I think! I love oranges/ reds, and it's a really warm cardigan.

I wear it with patterened t-shirt or tops.

I've also just bought this (in store) and will wear them together through the autumn.

But a warning - my cardi is bobbling quite badly...

Quite bright, orangey red, I guess.

Bleugh - yep, looks like it would bobble but also too good to waste. Patterns a good idea, don't usually do patterns but got a couple of nice tops lately that are a step away from my usual stripes! Off to browse!

A chocolate brown vest underneath? Vests often go straight across which might work with a v-neck.

I try to wear a contrasting colour if I can't match, so perhaps a blue or green. Probably best to take the cardi with you and try a few things on under it.

Funny, I did get a brown l-sleeved t to go with it but thought it was a bit dull ... but then I'm really bad at accessorising!

Okay, would anyone like to see if there is something which might go with it on the Boden Catch of the Day here. I think the cardigan is a similar colour to the Folded Trim Top, second from left on eighth row, or the Palmero silk top a few rows further down.

I have a red/orange sweater that looks nice with tan or brown trousers. Maybe a white or cream scoopneck underneath with tan or brown trousers?

I find a white top is often the best underneath bright colours like this, maybe a vest top or cami with a scooped or straight-across neckline?

Although I do have a cardi which sounds similar in colour, and I sometimes wear it over a top which is red with a pink print - sounds odd, but they are all in the same spectrum and it works.

Another idea is to take the cardi shopping and find a scarf that picks up the colour, or a lovely long beady necklace. Then you can keep the rest plain and neutral.

And surely everything goes with jeans?

Yes, it will look brilliant with denim. Otherwise ivory, taupe, nude, brown.

Thanks everyone - great ideas I hadn't considered! And just to make matters even better, I had a hoke in my wardrobe and a top I got recently looks lovely with it! So now to find a couple more in the colours you suggest!
