mascara for very sensitive eyes?

Any recommendations? I can't find any that don't either make my eyes water madly or make my look like a panda by lunch time.

The last one I had was clinique which the lady assured me would stay on all day long without smudging (it did) and wouldn't hurt my eyes (OK so it was better than most but I still got painfully watery eyes).

I'd really love to find one I can wear on a daily basis as I haven't worn mascara now for a year

You could try dying them - or rather getting someone to do it for you. I wouldn't advise doing it yourself if you are sensitive!

I looked into this but apparently they don't make much difference other than looking a bit darker, so it doesn't do enough as if you wore mascara IYKWIM. Looks to be expensive without much difference as my eyelashes are dark already.

I have this problem - I also get painful eyelids where the stuff touches them. It's weird and annoying (and before anyone asks, no, it's not dirty brushes. It happens with stuff straight out of the box too).

I haven't found one that works so my solution is usually just to put it on the tip of the lashes - unless you have super fair eye lashes you can get away with just brushing the top half which has desired effect as long as you don't overload the lashes.

You still get some in your eyes when taking it off, but you can wash it out more easily.

Which mascara do you use theyoung ?

I find Clinique "naturally glossy" mascara is one of the only ones that doesn't irritate my eyes. Steer clear of anything with fibres in it (the lengthening ones often have little fibres that stick to your eyelashes to make them look longer). L'Oreal is terrible for being irritating IMO. Maybelline slightly better.

i've tried maybeline, l'oreal, no 7, almay, bourjour, clinique, body shop and chanel then i ran out of patience and money . the clinique one the lady behind the counter told me was best for staying put/sensitivity was lash effect i think

I use Maybelline because it's quite "thin" if that makes sense, so you can just touch up the tips of your lashes to make them look longer without having a weird half-done effect.

I also use clinique sometimes but I think I prefer Maybelline.

Try Chantecaille mascara,it is expensive but is designed to last a lot longer than most (& safely,most are dry or yucky quickly). It can be either natural or built up to a very full lash. It contains Rose oil to condition the lashes & doesn't flake or leave lashes brittle. Chantecaille is skin care based makeup.

I think you should try blinc mascara. Have a look online.

just googled it who . It sounds really odd with the 'tubes' they talk about. Have you used it? How do you take it off ifnot with a make up remover?

well you use warm water and it comes off really easily but you do have to wash your face with water ( which cd be a problem if you only use a cream cleanser) but there is a lot less dragging the eye are with this mascara.

It is a sort of rubbery consistency rather than an oil or water based mascara and i think that makes it much less of an irritant. It sounds a lot weirder than it is and makeup artists have been using it for years on actors who react to other mascaras.

No7 now do a sensitive mascara. It's the only one which doesn't aggravate my eyes.

sleepy I've tried that one - better than lots of sensitive ones I've tried but still makes my eyes sting and also rubs off quickly on my eyes

Try the Clinique Glossy one. Less irritating than the other Clinque ones IMO. When I run out of my Clinique one I might try one of the "natural" ones like Lavera or Dr Hauschka.

rambling dr hauschka is my favourite brand of all time - I use all their skincare stuff. Thing is the reviews on the mascara say it smudges really quickly/easily. Does the clinique one smudge at all? I'm quite hard on my eyes and seem to get panda eyes with most mascaras quite easily

My mum has a similar prob but uses Lancome.

Can you ask to try before you buy? Most places can put some on you using a disposable wand.

funnily enough jenny no make up counter lady has ever offered to try mascara on me first. Infact the clinique lady who had attitude told me not to get an eyeliner once and she wasn't able to try any on me . I've always been a bit at testing mascara as I thought they used the same wand for everyone [boak] but if they use disposable then that's an excellent option

The Clinique one doesn't smudge for me but then I don't seem to suffer with smudgy mascara/panda eyes. Must be dry skin or something - or I just don't touch/rub my eyes. It always seems to stay put.

I love Dr Hauschka too. I'd like to give that mascara a go but I'm a bit put off by the price. I might see if I can get it cheaper on ebay or something.

Oh, and you got me thinking about this last night and I looked into some other mascaras for sensitive eyes. Another one that gets good reviews from sensitive eyed people is the Bare Escentuals one.
