Is there a consensus on Toast?

And do I need crazy hair like this to wear the stuff?

OK for a 45 year old? Worth the money? Is this dress nice or have I lost the plot?
Thank you!

And macsaid - thank you for pointing me in the direction of Wrap. Have ordered a couple nice looking (and more importantly, reduced) tops from there.

People Tree

I love the Toast catalogue, but only as a work of fiction. The latest one was particularly splendid - you could tell that the two models really HATED each other, and that the older one had got the stylist on her side - hence the twig-and-spit necklace on the younger one.

You are right, Bluestocking. In the new one, which just arrived today, the Toast family go on a winter holiday in Scotland. Unfortunately they have taken their two moody daughters, both of whom have bad Wuthering Heights obsessions and are in very bad tempers. It's only a matter of time before a poltergeist appears. Doors will bang, copies of distressed notebooks will fly across the room, and before you know it there will be a nest on the kitchen floor made of shredded hammam towels, antique Welsh blankets and shetland wrist warmers, with two, odd, Chie Mihara shoes in the middle.

There was a brilliant toast mens' catalogue a few years ago where they were all dressed like trawlermen.

Marmite or cheese any day

That's hilarious, niminypiminy!

why, thank you

I make the odd purchase from them, usually in the sale. I'm thinking about the merino jumper with shoulder buttons and the jumper with zip pockets this time. In the most recent catalogue there is a lovely velvet maxi dress and also a waisted lace dress that I think I will get if it is reduced. It is timeless stuff and if you see something you like you can wear it a bit and then get it out again a couple of years later. I don't mind the woman's hair but the dog she is with has seriously matted feet and is in dire need of grooming.

Brilliant, niminypiminy! I haven't seen the Winter Holiday in Scotland catalogue, as we've moved and I didn't tell Toast ... but your rendition of it makes me think it might be worth giving them my new details.
