Removing a mole......

I have a mole on my forehead. Is not huge, but still bugs me.

Is also flesh coloured so it looks like a spot.

Have had it since secondary school, was bullied a bit by a few girls because of it (bitches) and it still bothers me today.

I recently removed a large wart from my son's finger using Tesco Verucca Remover (bought over the counter in the Tesco's chemist bit). It lifted off perfectly within a few days and has left no marks or any sign it was there.

Do you reckon it would remove my mole?

No.

You need to see a doctor about having it removed properly.

your gp should have a clinic that removes them safely,I have had some taken out at docs

Have you? Does it cost anything?

And does it leave a scar?

I'm happy to try the doctors but I'd worry he'd think I was 'silly' for worrying about such a thing.

no it cost me nothing & no mine did not scar

if it really bothers you that much then discuss it with your gp,the actual removal is really quick,local injection given,cut cut with scapel thwen they put a couple of stitches in

You may just have to convince your gp that it upsetting you as some will poss only remove if there is a potential risk

go have a chat,can't do any harm

& fgs do NOT try & remove it yourself

Yes, it may scar. No one can guarantee that it won't

I had a flat brown mole removed from my neck and now have a fine, inch long scar line on my neck. Far less noticeable than the mole. I have had raised les moved from my back and they too scarred but again, far less noticeable than the moles (they scarred because their location meant the cut was always being stretched due to normal movement.)

I had two moles removed, one of those from my face. It wasn't that visible as it was over near my hairline but I'm delighted I got it done. In my case, they were cut off under local and each of them had 1 to 2 stitches which were removed after about a week. It's pretty painless and I'd recommend it. Don't touch em yourself though, this is a job for a pro [hsmile]

When you go to your gp make sure they refer you to a plastics specialist not the dermatology dept. The derm. team will remove it but may not do it as neatly and may leave a scar where the mole was. A plastic person will stitch it using a different method. I have had 2 removed - the one done by plastics is completely invisible but the one done by the derm. doctor left a scar.

Ive had a raised mole removed from my face, and other than being aware that the razor was cutting the mole away, i couldnt feel it, it was just feeling my GP's hands, it honestly didnt hurt.

I had a gel placed over it, and I have no scar, but i can feel where it was removed from.

dont attempt anything yourself, go see your GP. My Gp was fab, i didnt need to convince him at all, my daughter had caught mine a few times, and it had bled and got sore.

last year I had two little moles removed that suddenly had appeared next to my eye. I went to a plastic suregon. he removed it with a tweezer looking thing. no aneasthetic. cost around 80? + 100? for the histology. you wouldn't know I ever had moles, the scars are so faint.

Has anyone had a mole removed from their scalp? I have several large ones which are hidden by my hair but get caught all the time on brushes, combs, fingers etc... I'd like to have them removed but really don't want my head shaved!

the dr should be able to remove them with only removing the hair around them if they are not too large.

I have had several moles removed, including one (quite large, but not huge IYKWIM) on my face (chin). I also had one in my scalp that used to get caught by combs - so removed for practical reasons.

I went to a doctor in London and had 6-7 moles (in various places - leg, scalp, face etc) removed in an hour. Local anaesthetic. I have no scars.

The technique they used was to "microwave" the moles. It's basically a little metal loop and they run an electric current through it and "scrape" the mole off layer by layer. He gave me a cream to apply to the areas twice a day for about a week I think. I went on the recommendation of a friend who had some removed by the same doctor. My friend and I both had one mole (well, lack of mole now!) which we didn't use the cream on and we both have (very, very faint) scars on these - so use the cream if you have moles removed by this method!

I'm going to go back and get some more removed (when I can be bothered!) in the future. PM me if you want the doctor's details/prices.

Dr Masani at the Mayfair Practice. It's just off Oxford Street, between Marble Arch and Bond Street tube stations. If you google Mayfair Practice it should come up - they have a website.

also how much did it cost at your place Hevak? (if you don't mind me asking) I have quite a few I'd like to get rid of but don't know if I can really afford it and the one I had done by a local GP on the back of my hand has left a scar that I def wouldn't be happy with on my face!
