What is going on with my hair? Its out of control - help!

I've got a dark brown shortish bob, with some layers (I'm trying to grow them out) which is in very good condition. I have it cut regularly and coloured every 6/7 weeks.

I wash and straighten it everyday as it is crazy in the morning!!

When I leave the house it is sleek, glossy and very straight. By the time I've finished the school run and I'm in the car going to work, the layers are all flicked out and the bottom is curled under and looks naff!

So can anyone suggest whats going wrong? I've been using Elvive colour protect shampoo/conditioner and don't put anything on it when styling I know that is naughty

It seems very soft, so can someone recommend a good shampoo and conditioner (don't mind if its pricy), and perhaps some kind of styling product that will stop it flicking out?

Could it be the weather, or air conditioning? I've just moved offices and our heating comes through a air conditioning unit on the wall?

think my layers do this when they are between short enough to looked just cut and styled and long enough for hair weight to stop the flick. Also the weather plays havoc with straightened hair, especially before its too cold to keep it all in a hat.
before the damp weather started I was happy with John Frieda moisturising shampoo and conditioner, 3 day straight (but used everyday) and a drop of Moroccan oil. Then I finish with a texturising gum to stop fluff

Aveda straightening/smooth infusions style prep (cant remember and not at home to go and check). Stops the humidity getting into it.

Plus I find using a deep condtioner with every wash really helps my hair keep its style and not flick out etc.

i have slightly different (longer) haircut to you but i have been using elvive colour protect for my hair for last couple of weeks and my hair is bloody awful. it feels unclean, full of product (even tho it isnt), and wont straighten easily -or when it does before i leave the house its hideous by the time i get out of the car. so maybe its the shampoo AND the weather?

I found a hairdresser who refrains from straightening and styling mine for 10hours before I leave. Therefore I know I can get the same result with a quick blast of hairdryer. If they spend ages tweaking it after they cut it, they are hiding a shit cut IMHO. [hgrin]

But, if you don't use product when styling, then it is not going to stay where you want it to, is it? I would have thought a heat protection mousse would e your best bet....
