I ordered some black leather trousers from La Redoute and received them today.

I'm 5ft 7, size 12 and 39 yo. I used to have some about 15 years ago and loved them. These ones fit great but am I totally out of date? Can I wear them? Am I just sadly harking back to many moons ago? Will I look like the lovely Tina Turner?

My gut instinct would be no I'm afraid but having said that I can't think of anyone who should wear leather trousers so my opinion may be invalid.

I'm thinking liz ms Donald, coronation st, early 1990's.

Sorry!

No and you are mad to think otherwise.
Please don't.

They are in fashion right now but has to be the right silhouette. As long as they are tapered and fit close to the leg but not too close so you look squeezed in then it should be fine. Have to wear with the right shoes - some heeled ankle boots would be good. If you have a good butt and legs then go for it I reckon.

I disagree - leather trousers massive this year - you could wear them with big chunky knit or White shirt and flats during the day and dress them up with fabulous blouse and killer heels and very simple jewellery for evening. I'm 36 and I'd wear them, in fact I intend to find the perfect pair over next few weeks. Just make sure you keep everything else classic and simple and longer line than hips if tighter on top.

I meant to add I was in our 'trendy wine bar' the other week and a women of around 40 came in looking quiet glam but also looked like she tried way to hard. The group of younger women who weren't part of the older women's group looked in amazement (not in a good way) at her.

The women probably thought she looked not much different from when she was 18. The reality is sadly different.

Nah, only supermodels and the like look ok and that is in a photshoot.
And the thought of a crotch getting sweaty under that leather is not appealing either.

Totally agree with nhamecage. I think leather trousers can look fabulous - but all depends on the cut, the fit and what you wear them with...

FetchezLaVampire · 17/10/2011 14:49

I think they can look great, but usually don't. They tend to be cut too big on the leg so they're unflattering and look like protective gear for motorcyclists. But if you like them and they fit you really well, go for it!
