7mo carried mainly in sling, what to wear on his feet for winter?

I like the look of some sheepsking sleepers, but see them only in sizes up to 24 months and ds's feet are already that size, should I just knit some thick booties or is there another option?

I got directed to Inch Blue by another poster a few weeks ago, they have larger sizes. Other than that last winter I mainly layered tights over socks for my Boy.
