winter "office" trousers to wear with boots??

I am struggling a bit with what to wear for work at the moment...I was size 10 before going on mat leave 2 years ago, size 6 when I went back to work a year ago and I am now size 8. As a result, I seem to have a few random pieces of clothing in different sizes, rather than a complete wardrobe that would fit me, iyswim. The last few months I have been living in shift dresses, pencil skirts and ankle lenght peg trousers with heels. Now it's getting cold again, I have no idea what trousers to wear in winter. I used to wear long flares or bootcut with boots but this was a couple of years ago and would look dated and naff now. Last winter I think I wore mainly a couple of suits from next/ warehouse and some knitted dresses as I didn't want to spend too much money on clothes that small - I knew I wouldn't be that size forever.

What to wear this winter? What cut/ colours with what type of boots?
Please help, queens of style, sophistication and the occasional bargain Wink

Have a look at Cos

thanks. I may be beyond help but I still can't really work out what trousers I could wear with long boots when it gets really cold...?

I like the look of Gap straight leg trousers, but I'm guessing they'd only work with ankle boots? Sorry, but don't know what you mean by BR.

Tethersend, some of the Cos stuff is lovely, some of it is a bit to edgy for me.
