Best anti shine make up

Hi guys getting married in a few weeks and looking for the best matte anti shine make up . I will have St tropez on as well so need a good color match . Anyone have any recommendations ? Thanx :)

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I use the NO7 primer on my T-zone and it does ok on my combo skin. I use a tinted moisturiser over the top and the primer does a pretty good job of keeping the shine under control. Congratulations by the way!

I would have said a primer too. I use the Clarins... oh god, what's it called? In a little red pot? Hang on a tic.

I use bare escentuals mineral make-up, which you can get in all sorts of shades. I like the original version, which is a bit more dewy, although they do a matte version too.

I would have said primer yada yada yada but having tried Bare Escentuals make up this week due to that darling Jodie, I'd offer up that as a perfect solution. I have oily skin and it lasts and lasts and lasts - says you can even sleep in it Have a squizz on Jodie's thread and see what you think - and Lilylolo.co.uk does trial sizes for £1.29 so a colour match should be easypeasy.

I'd second Pinot and recommend BE. I've got the shiniest nose in the world but this stays put all day, even in heat.

Hi ladies that'll u very much for the advice !! It's funny my make up artist used bare escentuals but I still felt my face was really shiny ! I think it looks fine in the mirror buy in pictures it makes my face look like a Christmas bauble !!

shavmcv there is a thingy called veil I think in Bare Escentuals that goes on after foundation - comes in two shades, one of them is v sparkly. I don't use it at all for that reason - I glow already . The foundation itself is as matt as can be.

I have oily skin and have recently discovered Mac Blot Pressed Powder, aplly it with a brush for a light coverage and it really works for the whole day, no shiny nose.

Pinot - am following this thread as v intrigued myself with this whole BE thing. Have I read that right above - that you can get trial sizes of BE from the lilylolo site? Am a bit confused as I thought that was another brand entirely? Or am I missing something?

Ooh yeah they're trial sizes of lilylolo, not BE themselves. Lots of folk on the big BE thread say LL is better or same as BE (bit cheaper). I bought 3 LL samples - loved the texture so splashed out on the BE starter kit as it had the brushes (the brushes are essential to getting a flawless finish. They really are). But when the BE foundation is finished, I'll be returning to LL for full-size foundations as they're cheaper.

Honest to God my skin is always shiny but BE/LL foundation really really keeps it matt. It's the weirdest but most fantastic thing. It's not really a powder - it's more of a cream but in tiny particles, iyswim. So worth a try!

Thnaks Pinot. Hmmmm, am deliberating between the Lily L trial pots or the Avon one someone else has said. I really want to try these out, not sure what sort of result I'll get without a brush though. I'm not sure if my local Debenhams has got a BE counter.

Yep I hear good things about the avon one. Does that come with a brush? The brush is soooo important. I was using a really fluffy blusher brush until today and the BE brushes make a huge diff. I didn't go to a counter - the orange ladies scare me

No, the Avon one requires you buy the brush separately & that doesn't get good reviews on their site. I'm guessing that Superdrug or Boots would sell them - or I may just get the BE starter kit as that has a mini one in. Just would like to have it done first so I know which colour to go for and also whether it's worth it.

As for colours, it's not essential to be that exact like with liquid foundations. On QVC at the weekend they said one shade up or down is fine as it blends into your skin. I ordered 3 from lilylolo and on my face they all look the same - that is, they all look like me! If that makes sense. The BE starter kit comes with the full brush, the medium brush, the concealer brush (love), 2 foundations, one warmth and one veil. Bargainous at £36 on chemistdirect or I think lookfantastic is cheap too. Theres a smaller tester kit too I think. Go for it :)

Just to clarify for you. Mineral makeup is excellent for shinies as it works with the oil on your skin - not against it. That's the lovely creamy finish you get 15 mins after putting it on.

Brands: bare escentuals is a big American brand and it is good but expensive AND their foundations have a lot of light reflecting particles, even the matte ones. You can't see it unless you rub some on the back of your hand and go outside into the sunlight. that is why I cannot use it for filming / photography.

Lily lolo is a smaller company and their foundations are much less light reflecting so they are IMO more wearable.

You can counteract the shiny particles by finishing with the mineral veil - all mineral brands seem to have some sort of finishing powder like this.

Avoid the words luminescent, light reflecting etc. All it means is shine. Fine on cheekbones not fine on noses

Also BE is not as natural as it would have us believe. Lily lolo is.
