HELP!! HAIR DISASTER!! OH, PLEASE HELP!!

I had my hair dyed yesterday. I went in for highlights, and the hairdresser advised me that my hair was too short at the back and they would go dotty, so she said she would do an all over blonde colour to lighten my hair and act as a base colour, that I then could have darker highlights on top of.

She then basically bleached my hair and left me like that Shock

I've tried to like it and I don't. I just don't feel like me. I want to cry every time I look in the mirror.

The thing is, I'm a teacher, I'm basically going through hell in my private life and this is the nail in the coffin of my confidence. There is no way I can walk into school on Monday morning looking like this.

If need be, I'll have the day off on Monday and throw myself on the hairdresser's mercy. I have a stinking cold anyway, and what with what's been going on at home, most people wouldn't think twice about ringing in sick.

Thing is, I have a massive guilty conscience and I know my deputy head uses the same hairdresser as me. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll get found out Sad

So, are there any hairdressers out there who can recommend a good home colour kit to make me look less ridiculous, or does anyone know of a good hairdresser in the York area who is open on a Sunday?

I'm desperarate.

I think Saks in York open on a Sunday details here.

rockinastocking · 02/10/2011 10:08

Thank you, thank you.

Will follow up the Saks lead before I try a diy job, I think. Will be back with details in a minute.

I was hoping you'd turn up, Tatty.

Is it all right if I pm you, tatty because I'm worried about outing myself?

TattyDevine · 02/10/2011 10:18

Yes, PM me no worries x

rockinastocking · 02/10/2011 10:20

Have done it.

Hopefully tatty has helped - but if not could you try somewhere like Supercuts who don't operate an appointment system.

I have had lowlights put in by them before and it was fine.

TattyDevine · 02/10/2011 16:16

I have steered her towards a Clairol Nice n Easy 106 Medium Ash Blonde which will cancel out the orangy tones she is not liking without darkening her too much. Either way, she will feel less self concious because it will be a more natural shade. I'm sure we'll have an update later!

nickschick · 02/10/2011 16:22

tattydevine you are v pretty and v glam I am Envy.

PattySimcox · 03/10/2011 16:27

Totally off topic but Tatty I'm confused about colours now as I'm similar to you and always thought I was a Winter but am wondering if I could be a spring. Is it easy to work out - can't afford a hundred quid to go for a consultation.

mymuchness · 03/10/2011 19:11

OP - what happened? Did you take the day off/get it sorted?

rockinastocking · 03/10/2011 19:27

Got through the day and went for a late appointment today.

The hairdresser did it for nothing. It looks great now. She toned down the yellow blonde, added brown and caramel highlights and now I look much less like Myra Hindley better.

Thanks all for your advice - I just couldn't pluck up the courage to do a home dye job, Tatty!

OP posts:
fluffystabby · 03/10/2011 19:28

Glad to hear you got sorted Grin

TattyDevine · 03/10/2011 21:56

No probs OP - glad you are sorted and quids in by the sound of it.

Nickschik...thank you. I have plenty of bad hair days/fat days etc so appreciate you saying that!

PattySimcox what colour are your eyes, brown? Are they sort of bright or at least very clear pools of sparkling brown? Are your eye whites very white? How do you look in coral, turquoise, orangey red, bright navy, grass green? Clear, warm bright colours?

Have you tried the quiz - on Lora Alexander's site - bear in mind I misdiagnosed myself from it due to my slightly a-typical colouring (I'm not your typical spring, they are often fairer haired, blue eyed, etc)

Here's the quiz

Sorry for quick hijack there Rockinstockin

nickschick · 04/10/2011 00:08

by that chart im a deep winter ....

Thumbwitch · 04/10/2011 00:53

I did that quiz and it was completely wrong - came out as light spring. I'm a warm autumn! (reddish blonde hair but not strawberry; freckly pale skin but yellow toned, not pink; and grey eyes with a hint of green) Blues/pastels/pinks wash me out totally. The warm autumn colours are the ones I mostly wear and feel happy in now (as opposed to looking like death warmed up as a teen in mostly black!)
