Are these boots just really horrible?

I bought these boots www.very.co.uk/clarks-melissa-tara-knee-high-boots/924805128.prd?browseToken=%2fb%2f1666%2c5640%2fs%2fnewin%2c0&trail=1589-1665-1666-5640 last year before I discovered S & B. Are they mum boots? I am having some doubts about them now!

I like them, but I'm no fashion leader!

Intersat · 01/10/2011 10:47

I'm not either! :)

I like them too, but I'm a fashion numpty also.

Intersat · 01/10/2011 12:56

Hmm maybe this is where people who are not so knowledgeable about style can come and admire other people's less stylish offers (unless someone in the know comes along and they are indeed repectable boots). Or would that defeat the purpose of the forum Grin

The heel is a little clumpy.

DrNortherner · 01/10/2011 17:41

They are from Clarks. They are mum boots. Tis the Clarks law.

Sorry!

ChippingIn · 01/10/2011 17:43

Undiscovering S&B would be good for your sanity I think. You bought them because you like them - why do you need to have the approval of a bunch of internet sprites?

I think they are fine - I wouldn't buy them because I'm not keen on the detailing or the heel - but so what, you are wearing them, not me and they aren't exactly granny shoes or anything.

QuinnFabray · 01/10/2011 17:59

I like them and I am mega cool. No really, I am.

stripeybump · 01/10/2011 18:03

They're nice. Not earth-shatteringly gorgeous IMO, but nice and they'll last Smile

I'd wear them happily. Not sure I'd buy them unless they were on sale or something but them I'm like that with most clothing so it's not a reflection on the boots!

scarlettsmummy2 · 01/10/2011 18:13

They are fine for work, but I wouldn't wear them for casual. I prefer brown boots for everything non-work.

Intersat · 01/10/2011 19:06

You may be right ChippingIn. I think I am worrying too much about it. A few long threads about mum boots has me looking at them a bit too hard :)

Thanks for your opnions everyone Thanks

They are comfy boots BeerTricksPotter

You're welcome :)

Enjoy wearing them!

Pinkflipflop · 01/10/2011 19:17

I haven't read any of the other answers! You must post what you will wear them with!!

That's the mumsy decider!!

Intersat · 02/10/2011 08:22

I was planning on wearing them with knitted dresses and maybe shortish skirts and jumpers Pinkflipflop. Depends what shortish skirts look like on me these days. It's been ages since I wore dresses or skirts. I have been sticking mostly with jeans and trainers because they are comfy and an easy choice but I feel like I want to expand my wardrobe a bit now DD is growing up.

They are nice.

Ifancyashandy · 02/10/2011 08:47

They're ok. Tad clumpy / mum boot for me but if you like them! I've seen far worse!

Bunbaker · 02/10/2011 12:00

I don't get this "mum boot" thing. I work in an office where we have people of all ages. These boots wouldn't look out of place. I assume that those people who post snide remarks about "mumsy" style footwear wear killer heels all the time or expensive branded footwear.

Just ignore them. I do.

Ifancyashandy · 02/10/2011 14:47

It's not 'snide', it's personal taste. On MN it's a recognised term that people understand and we were asked for our opinions afterall.

RufousBartleby · 02/10/2011 15:01

Don't worry OP, I think they're fine - I own far worse! But then I am a practical sort, who likes to get from A to B at speed.

northener is wrong with clarks edict

DrNortherner · 02/10/2011 15:42

Wrong? Moi?

Show me a stylish pair from Clarks and I'll show my arse in Woolworths window.

Intersat · 02/10/2011 16:01

I stumbled into Style and Beauty by accident too RufousBartleby :) Now I know what shoe boots and jeggings are (but don't question my knowledge too closely). I also have loads of ideas for new shops to visit.

DrNortherner, is that promise about Woolworths because you know they have shut all their shops Grin

Selks · 02/10/2011 16:16

They're fine. I like the chunky heel, it looks right with the style of boot, gives it a slight cowboy boot look.

But really, if you like them it doesn't matter what others think.
