Phase Eight Verity - red

So I've ordered verity dress based on people raving about it here. I got the red, not entirely sure I suit red but I'm going to see when it arrives.

What on earth do I wear it with? Black tights and shoes? I'm sure I've been lead to believe that red and black is tacky. Nude shoes (and flesh coloured tights??). Aren't flesh coloured tights naff?

I never ever wear red, and I have posted before about my general crappnes when it comes to putting colours together so any advice will be apprecited. I don't actually have anywhere to wear it to yet but as I'm hoping to be at (or close to) my goal weight near Christmas, I'm nagging DH about going to a nice restaurant for a pre Christmas party night thing.

Oo Laura..I was one of them raving about the Verity dress. I hope you love it.

I would be interested to see the tone of red, I thought it looked quite orange on the website, but i haven't seen it in RL. Let me know your thoughts once it arrives.

I'm not sure about nude heels with it, I would be tempted to take the dress & head off for major shopping shoe trip! I think if I could match colours I would get red shoes (any excuse though )

Oh, I wouldn't wear tights at all. Slap on some tan

Nude fishnets and nude shoes would be one possibility. But if it was me I would prob go navy tights, navy shoes as I love navy and it suits me - and it goes well with red. A bit less harsh than black. Nude or bare legs would be good for summer but I prob wouldn't do that for a party in December, especially as we are supposed to be in for 5 months of snow.

Its a very dark red in RL I was surprised when I saw it in the shop, almost burgundy red, I def wouldnt wear black would make it a very heavy looking ensemble iyswim. Nude or metallic? I love nude fishnets

If it's that dark, then nude fishnets would work! Am scared to try it on actually, I loved the Oyster one so much.
