What shoes with this dress?

I have this dress in a teal colour. It's quite short so I would only wear it with black opaque tights. Every shoe I own looks wrong with it. Flats, nope need a heel. Heels somehow look too spindly. I am chunky of thigh so need something big to balance it out. I don't do brown so would get more mileage out of black or nude even. Does nude work with black tights?

It's a dilemma! Oh and can't really afford more than £40.

Fab dress! I have quite a few dresses of that kind. Slightly 60's/retro worn with black opaques and I would say

You need black shoes.

They need to be heels but not massive stilettos.....a more retro style to complement the frock.

These are very similar to my default heels to wear with that kind of dress.

Also great and bargainous

Mary Janes would really work with the style of dress

I know these raise the contentious issue of open toe with tights but they are bloody gorgeous and a huge steal so what the hey! Seamless tights would work!

Chunky black suede

Thanks Bunny!

Mary Janes are my normal shoe staple as I like the retro look and find them easiest to walk in. I have some already similar to ones you have shown but they are very high and I should have said the outfit is for work and there's no way I could last the day in them.

I love all the ones you have shown actually, totally me. I am now looking for something slightly lower of heel that in no way could be described as frumpy!
