hair still terrible 7 months later

my naturally curly hair is a disaster area since DS born 7 mths ago.It began falling out and now is straggly and just awful.It used to be nice and ringlety but nothing i do makes it look anything but dog-mange like.Will it improve ever? Any tips from curly girls?

Hi Im not sure about curly hair, but My hair fell out for 6 months when my dd was born, it was horrrid, I got v depressed at that time, and nothing I did made a difference. Anyway one of my friends told me to cut it all off ( not bold ) so I did, I cut my gorgeous hair, and was left with a little bob cut, which I hated. Anyway it did the trick, My hair stopped falling out after that, and it grew back thicker, healthier and alot more shiny.

Exactly the same happened to me with DD3. It looked fantastic while I was pregnant, lovely curls, great shine but after she was born it began to fall out in handfuls. It went straggly and straw like and I could do nothing with it. I tried everything, washing it daily, washing it just weekly, leave in conditioner, not using a hair dryer, anything and everything.

In the end I just had to get it all cut off, it was past shoulder length and had it cut to chin length. I didnt really want to but it just looked terrible.

It did recover gradually, but it took a while. I would say it's only just getting back to how it used to be now really, and DD is 3 and a half.

But the worst thing was DD3 was born with tons of hair which just grew and grew into beautiful glossy brown ringlets and everyone would say "oh she's got hair like you used to have!"

don't really want to get it cut though as am afraid it will look worse short! Also DP loves it long. Have any of you tried that morrocan oil curling creme? Yes I hate people saying - o your hair was so lovely when you were pregnant! _meaning it looks like s**t now:o

I take brewers yeast, zinc and sea kelp for my hair. It is growing thicker now, I've been taking them for nearly a year.

Remember morroccan oil is mainly silicone and too much silicone can actually dry your hair.

Have you tried aveda damage controll? I use the shampoo, condtioner and intensive condtioner deep treatment, I also leave 2 VO5 hot oil treatments mixed with a bit of argan oil on for 30 mins twice a week, avoiding the scalp.

I buy wella sp keratin oil off eBay when I can afford it.

I don't process my hair either, I just blow dry and straighten every 3 days but I think hair changes as you age anyway.

I know lots of people say shampoo etc isn't any better for being expensive but that's not what I have found and dh always notices really quickly if I try a cheaper brand.

I had DD nearly 4 years ago and lost loads of hair. Then earlier this year I was on medication that made even more fall out. So now I've got very thin, dry hair. For the past few weeks I've been using organic avocado oil as an overnight treatment a few times a week and I've definitely seen an improvement. It's a lot softer and smoother now.
