Mooncup and other questions!

Hiya,

Just wondering has anyone on here actually used a mooncup? Do they work properly, no leaking even with heavy periods?

And:

Can anyone recommend a naturaly deodrant that actually works...I have tried the 'crystal' ones, Toms, Tisserand, Weleda, loads of them but nothing actually seems to stop the odour. (Not that I'm really smelly), it seems that it is actually only the aluminium in deodrant that stops the odour, and I was trying to avoid it but getting fed up with not finding an effective one. And is aluminium really so bad for you?

Am aware that with all this talk of mooncups and 'natural' deodrant i sound like a lentil weaver but actually am not! Thanks....

Haven't found a natural deodorant that works.
Been using a mooncup for ages. Really good, but it takes a lot of a little practice to get it in the right place. Until you sort that out you will have leaks. Take care in public loos, they can be messy -TMI. Again, practice makes perfectish. I haven't gone back to lilets coz it's just so handy, cheap, and you honestly forget you are wearing it.

I use an Urtekram crystal deodorant. It's a liquid roll-on scented with rose oil. Smells lovely and really works. I've found the answer with crystal deodorants is to use about twice as much as I would with a normal one.

I also use a mooncup (dangerous lentil weaving tendencies here I'm afraid ). I first bought one years when the only place you could buy them was from the mooncup website and they had a deal where you could try it for 3 months and if you still didn't get on with it, send it back (!!!) for a full refund. Once I got it I could see why - it definitely took me three periods to get the hang of it, so be patient. They are absolutely brilliant, but I'd recommend using a panty-liner while you're first practicing.

If you do find you're leaking: keep experimenting with the angle/height while you're inserting it; try doing some pelvic floor exercises for a few days; try doing a bit of a pelvic floor 'suck' after inserting it to sort of 'set' it in position.

... I think mooncups are supposed to be particularly good for heavy periods. Mooncup FAQs says they hold 3xs as much as a super plus tampon!

Love mine, only thing that will stem the flow for me....

I love my Mooncup. There is some spill at times though, so you need to wear some backup. But far better than anything else than I've ever tried, particularly at night.
