Lipstick recommendations for a "Winter"

Dreamerofdreams · 24/09/2011 16:52

I have just had my colours done and I am what used to be called a "Winter", but is now described as Deep and Cool.

I have dark hair, pale skin, dark brown eyes with black eyelashes and eyebrows.

My recommended lipsticks are reds and deep colours, which I don't find easy to wear in daytime. They are a bit too much.

Looking for some nude/natural lipstick suggestions please, that don't make me look like "death warmed up", which I find many nude lipsticks do!

I think the most natural that a Winter can go is a plum/ berry shade. Revlon raspberry is quite natural on. As soon as you go too pale it starts to drain the face. I think winters need a bit of contrast in their make- up to hold up the rest of their look. Maybe time to embrace a bit of colour!

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey is gorgeous - I'm a Winter & I've worn it for 20 years! It's a gorgeous sheer berry which is very easy to wear. You can build it up for more colour or just one coat for a very natural look.

I came on to say clinique in black honey too! They do a double ended gloss/ lipstick thing too.

I'm itching for black honey myself! I've no idea what a winter is but your colouring sounds similar to mine, I like MAC's Syrup and Lovelorn lippies for daily wear, along with Maybelliene Ambre Rose.

I like Black Honey but it's getting a bit too dark for me as I get older, as I have thin lips. I love the texture - do they still only make the one shade?

talkingnonsense · 24/09/2011 18:49

No I think there is a big range. All clinique lippie is good- try the lip smoothies, or the plumping gloss if you want a change.

Ta - will have a look. Don't like other Clinique lippies much (have four or five of them) and hate lip gloss. I like the sheer texture of the Black Honey.

Have a look on the clinique website at the almost lipstick shades. I've tried a few but nothing compares to black honey for me. I've got the double ended gloss/almost lipsticks & the cream eye liner in the black honey too, but nothing beats the almost lipstick for me.

Thank you. I will check out Revlon Raspberry and Black Honey, and yes, I do need to embrace my colours, I am still a bit nervous....as I don't want to use something too dark for day and end up looking like a drag queen!
