Wedding make-up

I'm getting married in two weeks and I'm going shopping on Saturday for final bits. I need a new foundation and powder and I'll probably pick up eyeshadows and lipstick.

I usually use MAC pro- longwear foundation which lasts really well and looks fab, but I'm not sure how well it will photograph. I was also considering the MAC primer, but if it has SPF 50 does that mean it photographs badly?

Any experts out there who can recommend a primer, foundation and powder that will photograph well (not necessarily MAC, although I am pale so need a good choice of colours). I'm going to Newcastle so have Fenwicks, Debenhams, HoF and Space NK to choose from.

Any other 'essentials' I'll need? I'm pale with reddish brown hair and green eyes. I want to look natural but I do like my eyes to be defined. I usually wear Arena eyeshadow and brown liner, but I'd like to be slightly more glam. Anyway, I'm rambling, so I'll leave it there!

I would steer clear of the SPF50 Primer as it can look a bit ghostly. They do a non SPF one which I use on a lot of brides. The Pro Longwear Foundation and Blot powder should be fine. Blot Films are great to have for a long day if you get shiny so you don't end up with loads of powder caked on by the evening.

If you like Arena but want something more glam, how about Melon Pigment? Or Naked Lunch on the lid with vanilla pigment on the brow bone and something like Haux in the socket, deepened with a bit of Embark and Prunella eye pencil. Plums look amazing with green eyes and reddish hair.

Lip liner lightly applied over the whole lip before your lipstick will help the colour stay longer and look more polished and defined in the photos.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I love the sound of the look with Prunella eyeliner - I'll get on Make Up Alley and research the eyeshadows now!

They're all MAC by the way. I worked there years ago so know their colours pretty well. (Hell, I own most of them!)

I think that'll look great. Haux especially sounds lovely. Would I put Prunella on top, bottom, waterline etc? Does it stay put?

It's quite a soft one so I'd put it on the top and smudge up a bit on the outer corners, and maybe under the bottom lashes. You can set it a bit by pushing a bit of Embark onto it with a flat angled brush (like MAC 266) if you like, but if you do that put the foundation on your cheeks on afterward as you might end up with a bit of drop with the dark eyeshadow.

Experiment with the colours for a night out, that will give you an idea of how well it will all stay put. Urban Decay Eye Potion primer is very good for keeping eye make up stay put by the way.
