PEONY AND MOORE

alsow · 22/09/2011 18:06

Why is peony and moore so popular? personally I think you can get nicer bag for less price, I think they are too overpriced for what they are, so why are mum netters always raving about peony and moore?

OP posts:
Megatron · 22/09/2011 18:11

Different strokes and all that. I don't get the whole Boden thing but lots of mumsnetters do. I think P & M are lovely bags but if you didn't like yours then fair dos.

jlolookalike · 22/09/2011 18:39

I was looking to buy a leather handbag the other day, I did have a look at p & m, but decided to buy another gorgeous leather bag from elsewhere. I do think P & M are nice, but Im not sure why P & M are overpriced ( if they are ). Maybe someone else might be able to give you an answer.

bertiecat · 22/09/2011 20:52

I agree with Megatron we are all different - I don't want a cheaper bag if its made in the Far East or India out of hard stiff leather in naff colours and I don't want to pay Designer label prices -- that's why I like them - they are good quality but not overpriced for what you get IMO.

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 22/09/2011 21:46

agree with megatron and bertiecat, they are great value for women who are looking at bags in a Mulberry pricepoint (c. £500) and deciding it's too much to pay. I know that's not all of us but it is a fair amount of us.

If you're looking at P&M and comparing it with accessorize then I agree you would find it overpriced... there's nothing wrong with either point of view, but you need to see that we are not all at the same point in our lives, with the same budget and same expectations of things.

Live and let live, etc...

alsow · 22/09/2011 22:19

So would you not buy a leather handbag that is made in china then? Correct me if im wrong, but isn't prada, chanel and other designer bags made in the far east?

OP posts:
bertiecat · 23/09/2011 09:40

Maybe they are or the copies certainly - but I would never buy one of those anyway at those prices - I like to support british design where possible and like good quality and value for my money not a name tag to flash. As Nature says live and let live etc. - - we all have different viewpoints and I respect that - - Smile

jlolookalike · 23/09/2011 09:58

I agree with bertiecat, I cant stand this whole designer label crap, I wouldn't buy a name brand handbag and pay through the nose for it, as long as the bag is nice and the quality is good im happy.

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 23/09/2011 10:53

Jlo I think you're missing the point here - P&M bags don't HAVE a visible label on them. A lot of us like them because we also dislike 'designer label crap' as you put it.

Anyway if you want to sneer at people who pay more for an item than you would, I think you should aim for the top... we will join you in ridiculing actual D&G-toting label whore types with their £1200 bags Smile

Hope you can see it's all relative...

jlolookalike · 23/09/2011 11:00

Hi natureabhorsahoover, I was commenting on designer labels such as prada, chanel, gucci etc not P & M. I would buy a P & M handbag, I just wouldn't buy the other crap labels. I would also buy a leather handbag that was made in the far east aslong as the quality is good and the style is nice, It wouldn't bother me if the handbag didn't have any name/logo on it.

bertiecat · 23/09/2011 13:49

Another good point about P & M is you can actually get to speak to someone if you ring up with a query - and they were so helpful I felt they valued me as a customer - - can't see that happening if I tried to call Prada about an £800 bag Hmm

Kagriff · 23/09/2011 15:25

I've just bought the Milly bag and can't recommend the bag and Peony and Moore enough! The lady I spoke to on the phone before ordering it was lovely and it arrived at the office today. To the person that said they were overpriced I would say order one! When you get your hands on them you realise what lovely quality they are - basically it's a designer handbag without paying hundreds of pounds etc for the name. I was looking for a bag for work that was big enough for my ipad, etc and went into a few department stores first. Even lower end bags weren't far off the price but the quality was definitely not as good.

jessicaalbastwin · 23/09/2011 19:41

I think I will have a browse at peony and moore, Im in need of a nice leather handbag.

madammecholet · 23/09/2011 20:56

I've bought 3 bags and a purse off them and never been disappointed. Lovely bags and in my opinion not expensive like a mulberry bag!

natrob · 02/12/2011 18:33

I am lucky enough to own a P & M handbag and feel it's fabulously good value! The leather is beautiful and the design is functional yet stylish. Love it so much, I will buy my next handbag from P & M, or hopefully hubby will buy it for me!!

Racheclaire · 19/12/2011 16:21

Sorry ladies but believe the hype. The P&M bags are lovely, fantastic quality and all-round versatile bags worth every penny. I know it's cliched but they are an investment buy. I have a black crocodile clutch which at £140 was quite expensive but two years in I've used it again and again and will have it for ever. No more cheap accessorize (actually not so cheap!) clutches everytime I go out. This P&M is built to last and my daughter's already got her eye on it so I know it'll be a hand-me-down. SOrry ladies but good quality leather bags are a no brainer for us mums...

I just started a thread and thread-killed it all in one. It is about today realising that a P&M Lucia is a near direct copy of the Mulberry Annie. Hold the front page! Okay, realise that it is not the most thrilling topic of conversation but I was a bit shocked as I didn't see them as a company producing copies. Thought they were doing their own designs.

Bathlet · 01/02/2013 15:34

There is currently 10% off Peony & Moore Bags, for Mumsnetters www.mumsnet.com/Talk/local_bath_mumsnet_local_discounts/1666672-10-off-at-Peony-Moore-for-Mumsnet-Local-Bath

Bathlet · 01/02/2013 17:30

BTW... I don't work for P&M but I work on the new local site for Mumsnet Bath and wanted to give P&M likers a hand as P&M are currently giving our Bath MNters a discount for the launch of our new site (as they are local to Bath): local.mumsnet.com/bath

tethersend · 01/02/2013 18:29

I only bought one because it was a Chloe Marcie rip off.

Now they've sent me an email saying I've won a clutch bag.

I'm a convert Grin

cathers · 01/02/2013 18:37

I have bought a couple of bags from them. Again, never been disappointed- lovely soft buttery leather, solid quality hard wear and no flashy markings. Great customer service and if you are looking for a bag in the £100-£200 mark, I think in terms of quality they are hard to beat. Compared to radleys, furla and others in their price bracket, the leather is superior.

madammecholet · 01/02/2013 18:42

I love em. Have had 3 bags from them now and they knock the socks off the high street imo...

nowrinklesonamelon · 01/02/2013 22:04

I agree Madame
