Boden skirt - naff or not?

ok I don't have a link to the skirt cos it's from a few seasons ago. Basically black thin cord but mid-calf length, small slit at the back. Thought it was a good idea at the time but never wore it, so what's the verdict? Naff or not? It actually looks ok on but it's the unusual length I'm worried about....

Well, if it looks OK on and you feel confident wearing it, go for it. Stuff the label and the cord and the length and the past season if it suits you nicely :) Although, you didn't even wear it when you bought it, that should tell you something.

If you haven't worn it that tells you all you need to know. However if you want to try it again think of some outfits -- try them on in front of a mirror and see how you look.

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2011 17:31

Could you get it shortened?

southeastastra · 22/09/2011 17:40

i have lots of clothes that i haven't worn yet but certainly will, so wouldn't judge on that!

it sounds ok, is it full or tight?

applecrumbleandcream · 22/09/2011 18:44

I think mirpuppet is right, I too have clothes which I never wear hanging in my wardrobe and it is because when I put them on they never feel quite right and ultimately discarded!!

I'm not sure about a midi length skirt, it's a bit of a strange length imo, didn't they try to become fashionable this summer? I prefer knee length skirts in winter with knee high boots. If you had it taken up professionally then would you wear it more? Otherwise, it's been a waste of money if you're never going to wear it!

OP I think I have that black skirt and also in olive green (well, it was £10 in a Boden clearance sale!) Grin. I have worn it but not recently but I think it looks ok with flatish boots.

Helltotheno · 22/09/2011 21:57

Thanks for all the suggestions :) Rassy I think it's the same one you have and yes it does look ok with flat boots but that's about all I think. Never wore it but I have been known to not wear new stuff, then unearth it a couple years later and wear it til it falls apart. Prob not in this case though :(

applecrumble yes the fashion industry was trying to make midi happen this season and didn't succeed... which is why I unearthed it to have another look.
Must've got it in a sale, I'd have to give myself a slap if I paid full price :(

I thought about taking it up but was worried about it losing shape. It's quite tight all the way down. I would defo wear it knee-length - that's if the shortening worked and it looked good.

If you took it to a professional dressmaker/seamstress they should have no trouble taking it up for you. I would if I was you, you've got nothing to lose really if you aren't wearing it now!! Or you could always ebay it - Boden always sells really well, you might get near enough what you paid for it! Smile
