First job interview in over 10 years...need smart suit..

My last job interview was in 1999 and I've been a SAHM for nearly 3 years. Just been asked for an interview at a financial firm and I'm thinking it's a good reason to invest in a new smart suit... I have no idea where to go. It needs to be quite classic, probably black or dark blue. I think I bought my last suit at Next but am looking for better quality this time! I'm 5'9". Sz 10/12. Interview is early next week so will probably go to BluewAter this weekend but it would be great if someone could give me advise what shops to go to.. .thanks!

I would go for a dress over a suit

www.lkbennett.com/clothing/dresses/DRDAVINAP038WOOLMIX this type of thing may be over budget, M&S do similar types of things for fraction of the price.

I much prefer dresses to suits these days as you only need to think about one thing rather than making sure both skirt and jacket are clean and finding top to go with it...

Jigsaw do good wool suits that last v well. Not cheap, but I have got a lot if wear. Not that keen on some of their clothes, but workwear good I think.

LOVE the dress but unfortunately would not be suitable for job interview at this firm. Definitely needs to be a 2-piece suit... Now if I get the actual job, then the dress would go on my want-list.

Thanks Whoneedssleep, the Reiss suits are great, I love the fact you have skirts and different trousers styles. Just what I was looking for!

Hi
I am pretty sure that the 3 big stores at BW have personal shoppers - you'll have to make an appointment but that would be your best bet as you can tell them your needs and they do all the running around.
I'm also going for interviews atm but putting off spending on clothes until I know where I'll be working - not all offices are the same...
Good luck!

MimieD · 22/09/2011 13:27

Never thought about using personal shoppers before, good idea.
As far as spending money on an interview suit...all my previous experience is in corporate banking and that's what I hope to get back into! You can never go wrong with a smart suit.

Hobbs have some nice stuff.

What's your budget?

NewChoos · 22/09/2011 14:05

Oh that Hobbs outfit is gorgeous

Last time I went to Bluewater there was a large Jigsaw.

MimieD · 22/09/2011 14:16

Ah yes Hobbs as well. It's been soooo long since I went shopping for a great work outfit I completely blanked these shops out of my mind. For a great great suit, I'm willing to spend around £300 -350. Has to be a suit that won't date, just like the ones at Reiss and Hobbs.
