Calling tall ladies!

What type of shoes do you wear when you're wearing a nice dress for a night out?

At almost 5'10 I hate shopping for shoes as I can't wear heels (well, I COULD, but I feel so self-concious). I tend not to wear dresses for this reason Sad.

I'm not fussy, just black shoes that'll look nice with a little black dress, preferably no strap across the ankle and a low-ish heel.

Thanks!

I am 6 feet tall and rarely wear heels, although I do have some. I take them out of the box and look at them lovingly...then back they go.
All my friends are short, dh is 5 feet 10 on a good day, and I just feel too conspicuous.
I haven't worn a dress or skirt for about 15 years even though I have cracking legs. Smile
I may reconsider after reading this.

Lol at Lady and Mrs describing their husbands as being a certain height on a good day! I thought it was only mine that had the strange ability to be shorter than usual some days!

Mrs if you have cracking legs and haven't worn a dress or skirt in 15 years that's a crime against beauty and fashion and you need to sort it out! Start a thread and we'll help you venture into the world of legs Wink

so, I (6ft1) am off to a christening and party this weekend, we will be staying in my MIL's house, 15th century cottage with LOW ceilings, and can just imagine standing around in high heels and my head permanently bent to the side to fit in....

so, flats again.... Sad

Are the ceilings really that low, Chandon? Is the party at her house, or are you just staying there? If not, there's no reason why you can't wear heels to the party and kick them off once you get back to the cottage.

What are your heels like?

Read the internet discussion I linked to up-thread for inspiration.

Then work it!

Thanks.

It is in the house, and I KNOW how low it is Grin

I always think that if I were reasonably tall (say 5 ft 9, or even 5ft10) I woudl wear heels, but at 6ft1 it just seems....so giraffe like!

All my in laws are tiny as well, you know small, petite, French- Asian, and then me lumbering in......

oh well.

Wear heels! Seriously, I love to wear platform soles with 3" heels and adore towering over people (I'm only 5'10")
However. I don't wear heels when out with DH as he's 5'8".
New Look do some amazing heels, as do Irregular Choice :)

I too am "going up", so to speak.

At 6' I've always worn flats. But have just taken delivery of a pair of boots (idea courtesy of MN S&B Hmm ) and they are not flat. A lot higher than I'm used too. About 3".

I wobbled Blush but wore them all day (inside) and felt short when I took them off Grin

One day I may graduate to proper heels, but thank you for the encouragement (and enablement, if that's a word...)

Oh, they are these Hush Puppies

Until I read something here I'd never have dreamed HP would look so good. Always pictured them as granny stuff.

They are comfortable, but rub a bit on my left toes ATM. I'll break them in at home Grin

Ooh, I like those, Peri.

I'm thinking brown boots for autumn/winter too. These are currently being slated on another thread I started canvassing opinion on them, but I love them and will be getting them! Grin
