has anyone ever dies their roots blonde????

I cant afford to be blonde!!!! even the local salon charges £80 to do my roots and a trim

so, has anyone ever dyed their roots themselves? or is this a really stupid idea?

This is meant to be very good. I I have highlights and used to do the roots myself but it didn't look right and I was going too blonde. Now when I have my foils done I have two browns put through at the same time and because you can't see the re growth so much it means I can go 3 months inbetween colours. It's being done next week and looks fine even now. Mind you my fab hairdresser comes to my house so it's really good value.
