Colour guru's - over here! I need your thoughts!

I had my colours done earlier this year and was a summer - or clear, light, cool. My question is that I'm bored with my hair and sometimes change it from blonde to dark brown in the winter. I have noticed this has an effect on the colour clothes that suit me so what do you think I would be with dark hair?

I have light skin, blue eyes and my natural hair colour (although I haven't been natural for YEARS!) is a mousy blonde colour.

Totally agree, they disregard your hair colour when analysing your colours. And yes, ash brown rather than anything warm or reddish

you're allowed red if its got a blue tone. not orange.

See now this is where I disagree with the colour people. I have gone from blonde to dark a couple of times and it does make a huge difference to the colours that look good on me . As a blond I really suit colours like baby pink, sky blue but with dark hair those sort of colours look terrible and I always feel I should be wearing more bold tones.

I guess your suggesting I need to stick to the principles of wearing cool tones colours rather than warm?

but pink and blue are just what you should be wearing, or more strong versions of them. its about avoiding yellow, so red and dark blue are fine.

As far as I know the rules say everyone can wear almost every colour, its just the shade/tone that needs adjusting. No colour offlimits, just get the shade right. Dont you have a swatch wallet of colours from your analysis?

With darker hair (i.e. more of a contrast between hair and skin tone) I would probably go for deeper shades of the same colours, but still cool so bordering on the winter colours. You could also try using contrast in your clothing e.g. instead of wearing tone on tone colour, try high contrast (as looks good on winters). You can't possibly start suiting autumn or spring colours regardless of hair colour.

I'm a dark summer -brunette, brown eyes, pale complexion - and my best colours are air force blue, grape, deep blue based reds (burgundy/cherry etc), dark green. Bordering on the winter palette but more muted than the jewel colours that are often associated with winters. HTH
