Help! New job clothes

Sukie1971 · 18/09/2011 10:28

After years (20!) of being in a uniform for work I've just been offered a new job where the dress code is smart/casual. No jeans. I'm not blessed with much cash at the mo, so need some ideas please. I'm short 5'2, size 18-20 with large norks and hate my legs so want them covered at least to the knees.

Anyone up for the challenge?

Nope? Obviously I'm too fat for anyone to take on the challenge Sad

I think Matalan has some nice things for the money.

Sukie1971 · 18/09/2011 12:36

I'm not matalan type cash-strapped! Just not White Co or Boden prices. But thanks for replying.

I get suits from next. Handy for me as you can get petite tops with normal length trousers

NormaStanleyFletcher · 18/09/2011 12:43

If suit is too formal, get the trousers and team up with top and cardy?

Tesco has some amazing stuff at the moment-

Asos:

Knit dress

Asda:

Amazing bargain dress

Also try Peacocks and Dorothy Perkins. I would second matalan for good basics; am not convinced by the quality and fit of next.

Tethers I LOVE the ASOS dress, thanks! A couple of the tesco ones appeal too, esp at those prices. The Asda one is lovely but poss a bit formal for me.
Norma Yes, I think thats prob what I'll do, just find Next trousers dont fit me too well, although I find their tops fit well.
Thanks!

I am also around your size and height and with large other assets. I always shop at Next for smart clothes and occassionally Dorothy Perkins. I don't do Matalan as I don't find that the clothes last very well.

I'm in a similar situation and have just bought an outfit from Monsoon, and then lots of things from ebay. I've bought lots of pairs of smartish wool wideleg trousers which I'm going to wear with jumpers, blouses and boots.

I also fancy some smart jersey dresses to wear over leggings or thick tights with boots. French Connection have some gorgeous ones.

Check out the shops and then get on ebay to halve the cost is my advice. Good luck Smile
