40th Present Ideas

For my SIL. She is a nice but casual dresser and doesn't like to be too made up.

In the past I've bought her Clarins and Clinique stuff (hand cream, shower stuff), which I know she's liked.

Is it the done thing to buy nice face moisturiser or could it be offensive? Not sure how she's feeling about the milestone birthday. If it's ok, what's best for her age? I've got about £40 to spend.

Any other ideas would be very welcome too. Link away!

I wouldn't buy moisturiser because by 40, she's probably got her day to day routine pretty sorted.

How about -

A Lancome mascara;
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm;
A Chanel nail varnish in a neutral colour and just one really lovely pair of silk knickers;
A big bottle of 'posh' shampoo and matching conditioner - eg Aveda.

These are all things I'd be v happy to get, anyway!

An expensive bottle of champagne, choclates and strawberries. She can share them with you and enjoy the milestone, talk about the good times and celebrate and be grateful for what you have accomplished.

What do you do with beauty flash balm? I have a sample tube that I've never used as I'm not sure what it's for.

You put it on to brighten and tighten skin before putting on make up.

I like Remus's ideas.

You might want to avoid vouchers but Space NK vouchers are nice to get. Or vouchers for a salon/beauty place near her so she can treat herself. Other idea would be a Ren gift set. Ren do lovely stuff.
