postnatal clothes

Please help. I'm having baby no 3 at xmas and I have nothing to wear afterwards. I am scared of ending up in joggers and leggings for 6 months like I did last time. My 2nd child is still a baby cos this one was an accident so I'm going to be beyond busy and need stuff that's really easy to wear and look after. I'm usually a size 14 apple shape, but I'd anticipate being a 16 for a few months. I'll hopefully be breastfeeding. I want to be comfy but not look slobby. Any ideas? Budgetwise - don't mind paying decent prices for things that are lovely and that I'll wear for a long time. Thanks in advance.

I gave birth to twins 8 months ago and have bought all my clothes from supermarkets due to the fact I am gradually losing the weight and don't want to commit to spending money on clothes that won't last me. I've found some pretty decent stuff in Sainsburys. Yes it's mumsy but ok and will do until I'm back to a size 12 when I will go on the hugest shopping spree ever. I figured if I'd bought anything too nice it wouldn't motivate me to lose weight!

I also found Gap to be good for post natal clothes. Well cut, nice colours and flattering (most of the time) ie the jeans for curves.

DC2 is a month old. After DC1 I spent lots of time in jogging pants and didn't want to repeat that this time. I'm normally a size 12/14 and I suppose I'm currently 14/16.

So far I'm in leggings with long tops and lifting them up to feed. I have been on a mission to find tummy-skimming tops with a bf-compatible neckline and it's been near-impossible.

I bought a few new feeding tops but they just don't fit or flatter. Shirts are a nightmare because I inevitably forget to do up all the buttons afterwards!

With DC1 because you can hibernate but this time around I need to look presentable for the nursery run most days.

No answers, but I would love to know if anyone has cracked this.

DC3 is 10 weeks. For the first 6 weeks I had no qualms about wearing my maternity trousers. I then bought some jeans and cords in a size bigger (oh, alright, two sizes bigger for the jeans!) in Sainsbo's. I definitely feel better in jeans than elasticated waists, and because they are tightfitted they stop me pigging out!

For BF'ing I have bought a few very cheap long sleeved round neck T's from Primark, cut a slit over each boob and then wear a short sleeve T over the top. Also have a couple of vests which I have cut off into crop tops that I can then lift up after unbuttoning my M&S grandad shirts (although like you I often forget to do up afterwards, and had an embarassing moment in Costa this morning!!) and have kept my H&M maternity vests which I wear underneath a tunic top but with the top of the vest pulled down under my boobs so that my glamorous nursing bras are easily accessed. Nice.

Other than that, I've bought two Zara cardigans in a lightish fabric (the other thing I'm struggling with is being very sweaty...... lovely) and three (extravagant!) Zara scarves which double as defrumpers and cover-ups. I also try and wear nice earrings (but not danglers!) and boots with a small heel. I definitely feel less frumpy this time around, and happier being seen out in public!

Like you aramass, I am saving up for a big spree if I ever get to a size 12.

Thanks very much ladies. It sounds like Sainsbury's is the way forward. I don't think I'll bother with feeding tops, cos I've never heard anyone be happy with them. I've seen some really gorgeous stuff at Isabella Oliver, and I like the look of their under the bump maternity jeans, which I would hopefully wear afterwards for a few months. Just hope they stay up.

Ah yes, the sweatiness!

I've tried wearing my maternity jeans but cannot get them to stay up. Aargh!
