What do you do with your (cringe) pubic hair? (or more to the point...what should I do)

Should I shave it? that turned out a bit spotty last time
How about wax it myself??
I'm a bit too much of a wuss to get it done in a salon or whatever.
I'm definatly not going bald (s'a bit childlike init??) leave a strip? ...but I don't want to look like I'm trying to be a a porn star...

Just give it a trim, sit over the toilet bowl and let it all fall in Grin

Thepoweroforangeknickers · 13/09/2011 02:28

I always go for the plaited look.

nooka · 13/09/2011 04:31

I leave mine totally alone - I don't even cringe about it ;)

More to the point what do you want to do?

KristinaM · 13/09/2011 08:28

Do what you want. I think most people leave it alone of give it a light trim

Id never heard of all these high maintenance fanjos until i came on mumsnet.

Helltotheno · 13/09/2011 08:51

High maintenance fanjos Grin

I don't bother with salon waxing any more cos I swim and can't be doing with the regrowth etc. So I run a seriously hot bath (to open the pores) and use a combo of veet/blades/shave gel, plus I have a special little scissors for trimming! Lots of aloe vera moisturiser afterwards.... Seems to do the job.

Have an epilator too which is fab for the lower legs but the pain is unbearable anywhere else :(

Helltotheno · 13/09/2011 08:54

Oh meant to say op, I think the very very hot bath is the way to avoid spottiness. I find if I do it in the shower, it doesn't work as well.. :)

I always trim mine right down with DP's electric shaver (what he doesn't know wont hurt him :o) and then shave around the edges using very hot running water and a sensitive shave gel.

Always exfoliate before and after and ALWAYS use an after shave cream with no perfume.

Its up to you how you have it though, each to their own.

elliott · 13/09/2011 09:08

Nothing.

LawrieMarlow · 13/09/2011 09:13

Why would a load of strangers on the internet know what you want to do with your pubic hair?

violetwellies · 13/09/2011 09:17

Leave well alone :)

MitchiestInge · 13/09/2011 09:20

have you just reached puberty this morning?

what do you usually do?

MissFoodie · 13/09/2011 10:30

use depilatory cream, best thing ever, you can use it once a week and ALL over if need be!

TheBride · 13/09/2011 10:35

Getting a salon wax is far less painful than DIY because they use the hot wax rather than strip wax. I just get them to wax the edges and the top for swimsuit purposes . Then I trim the rest with nail scissors.

Napalmed fanjo is so 2010.

Funtimewincies · 13/09/2011 10:45

I swish mine around like the Pantene advert.

I use Veet on mine, although you can't always be guarenteed of the results as the cream does go everywhere Wink

MistyMountainHop · 13/09/2011 14:25

i have an electric bikini line trimmer, think its made by wilkinson sword.

i just clip it all down to nearly nothing a couple of times a week

sometimes i wonder if i am the only woman in the world who doesn't have a brazilian Blush i can't because am too scared to

Catsmamma · 13/09/2011 14:26

Helpful Suggestion. 3)

LDNmummy · 13/09/2011 14:39

I just trim and shape where necessary. I leave a strip so I don't look pre-pubescent as I find that a little unnecessary. I used to take it all off or self wax at home but cannot be bothered with all that now, I just keep it in shape really.

LDNmummy · 13/09/2011 14:44

If you get shaving burn like me from taking it all off with a razor, use appropriate sized grooming scissors and then gently shave with the grain if you want it slightly smoother. Use a shaving gel too, I use Gillette. And make sure to always do this in a hot, or at least warm, shower.

I'm sure you can use an electric trimmer, but haven't tried that yet.

Just trim the strip you leave behind, simples.

chocolaterainbow · 13/09/2011 15:25

Hmm... well I've started swimming quite a lot, hence bikini line issues...and I don't want plaits hanging down the sides orangeknickers lol, but each to their own ;) shaving has given me a little bit of a rash, pretty sure that's not a good look for down there...
and as I don't want to/can't really justify the ££ of getting it done at a salon, I was really just wondering what 'the done thing' was.

Lol kristina , funtime and catsmamma, seriusly, do people dye their pubes pink, whatever next!!

Thanks for all your suggestions :)
