What do you spend per month on clothes for yourself?

I am intrigued really as some people look amazing all the time. I haven't got the time and have decided I look best in expensive clothes which I can't justify . I settle for supermarket bargains and the odd nice thing but dream of a different future ( and no it doesn't involve Johnnie Boden at all)

Anyway I reckon including shoes I spend about £50 a month on clothes, when spread across the whole year.
I have a feeling that we will be going higher and lower very soon so come on... tell the truth not what you tell dp...

Oh I wish.....I only buy something new if I have an important do to go to. Mind you saying that about every 5 months DP and I have a blitz in the catalogue.

Freemans is my best friend

But what about style icons such as the fishy one.. does she really achieve that on a limited budget?
and btw Cod.. how can you tell what colour anything in the Kew catalogue really is?

Not as much as I'd like and not half as much as I used to pre dd.

crunchie · 12/12/2005 17:33

I try to keep it between £50 and £100 a month. I do love new clothes and I am so fat ATM nothing fits me!!

crunchie · 12/12/2005 17:34

And DH would never DREAM of asking me I have to have something new everymonths Usually New Look or supermarkets or Monsoon if I am splashing out!

HRHQueenOfQuelNoel · 12/12/2005 17:36

£0.00 a month on clothes for myself .

foundintransleightion · 12/12/2005 17:39

Usually zilch. Every few months I get a couple of things, but only if I really need them. It's usually H&M or (if in UK) Bhs, but every now and then I'll get something really nice and expensive from a boutique, an outlet or a Berlin designer.

QueensSpeechEagle · 12/12/2005 17:40

Don't spend an average. I have a splurge when I feel like it - anything up to £100 maybe a bit more some months. Other months I don't buy anyhting.

My rule though: never buy anyhting unless it really grabs me. I hate getting things then being bored after a couple of months with them.

Mercy · 12/12/2005 17:44

I reckon I spend about £250 - £300 PER YEAR on clothes & shoes. But I'm a sahm so don't need too much - I generally replace worn out stuff, plus I'm a petite size so choice is limited

vickiyumyum · 12/12/2005 17:56

really depends. thats on my mood, how much money i've got, if i'm going anywhere etc etc.

not very much at the moment as 26 weeks and not feeling great, just feel eb=vene fatter in everything so whats the point! but usually i spend about £100-£200 a month on clothes, usually only a couple of items though from monsoon, boden, and then back it up with cheaper items from primark, h&m, new look and even trusty old mk one.

far less than i spend on dh and my 2 ds though!

LadyTophamInAChristmasHatt · 12/12/2005 17:58

Less than £20 I should think.

Nightynight · 12/12/2005 18:03

I think around 50 euros, on average, (including shoes). Im still building up my wardrobe from our poorest phase, when I spent nothing on it for about 6 years.

These days it usually goes in with the Tesco shop (Cherokee, bot Florence & Fred - too fancy for me!).

Over a year probably works out at £10 - 20 a month. I hate clothes shopping - and shoe shopping even more.

nooka · 12/12/2005 20:54

I guess I usually spend £400 or £500 a year, usually in one burst when I realise that all my clothes have worn out! Some years I don't get around to it. I'm not a happy shopper!

merrycompo · 12/12/2005 20:55

Only spend loads when going somewhere - recently went for girlie weekend in London and bought new clothes as nothing fits still Needed to know i looked stylish despite extra pounds

Rudolphthebluenosedteddy · 12/12/2005 20:59

Have spent £33 on clothes for myself this month. £25 on a cardigan thing (reduced from £39 in oasis) & £8 on a pair of knickers!

redredpants · 12/12/2005 22:20

I send about 30 to 100pounds a month, on average. Might be more if I need new underwear, or a new coat. Sometimes more on shoes.
Wow, that sounds so extravagant!
It doesn't seem that much to me at all. I always think I don't have enough clothes!
Spend more on kids though.
