OK, what eighties clothes are back in?

Following on from the other thread.

I was delighted to hear that eighties clothes are back in. But every time someone mentions a garment, I think "hmm, yes, maybe not."

Surely there's something that's nice?

nope, everything from 80's fashion was utterly revolting.

redredpants · 12/12/2005 16:13

OH, I hated 80's fashion.!
All those skinny jeans, I got anorexia, then was in early teens. If I felt like that then, will deffo not be wearing it now!
Loved DMs though.........

TurkeyGang · 12/12/2005 16:27

Did skinny jeans the first time round, but no no no now I'm afraid!

Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 17:21

Come to think of it, I can't actually remember a garment I wore which I loved and which I would consider wearing now.

crimbocrazydazy · 12/12/2005 17:25

Remember them hideous batwing jumpers?

And what about fluorescent socks and jellybeans?

Ewwwwww

dingdongmeggymooonhigh · 12/12/2005 17:27

batwing
leggings
puffball - tulip skirt now daaaahling
skinny jeans

Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 17:27

Just thought - legwarmers.

Eminently practical. Don't care how naff they are.

OP posts:
Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 17:27

I don't remember jellybeans

OP posts:
Bozza · 12/12/2005 17:28

Jellybeans = plastic shoes

noddyholder · 12/12/2005 17:30

footless tights

Tortington · 12/12/2005 17:31

its all wrong if your over 30 - and actually did it first time round - cardigans with glitter is the way to go - ala lorraine kelly

Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 17:35

Link to glittery cardigans? Sounds a bit of a questionable style statement...

OP posts:
northerner · 12/12/2005 17:41

Disagree about the over 30 thing....look at VB, Madonna et al.

Jumper dresses also back in, very chic, lots of black and white hoops/stripes are in.

mazzystar · 12/12/2005 17:43

azzedine alaia lycra dresses for skinny wee things

Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 17:44

Ooh, jumper dresses. Warm and practical. Just right for middle aged frumpies.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 12/12/2005 17:50

I think Lorraine kelly should go straight to the mumsy thread with her wee cardies

Tortington · 12/12/2005 17:52

vb and madonna dont count - becuase they are good lookin and skinny. the average joe is dog ugly with kid sick in their hair and worried about paying the gas bill.

only occasionally do you get the beautiful ( as popularly recognised as opposed to eye of beholder)

Mincepiedermama · 12/12/2005 17:56

I had those horrible stretch skinny jeans by Oddball. My mum used to say, 'You're not going out like that are you? You look like Max Wall.'

I wore them with burgundy Tukka boots. Eurch!

noddyholder · 12/12/2005 17:57

I had tukka nboots What were we thinking?

Mincepiedermama · 12/12/2005 17:58

Lord knows Noddy. What a waste of a nice young body and figure eh?

Caligyulea · 12/12/2005 20:35

I had Doc Martens. Loved 'em. Felt 'ard.

OP posts:
notasheep · 12/12/2005 21:21

actually bought some doc Martens again last weekend(dd says i look like a clown, well i am a size 9) and back in skinny jeans! Never keen on those big boot leg Osmond style!

Chrismurfgirl · 12/12/2005 21:34

I have a lovely puffball skirt, but is not too puffy. Was born in 1984 so maybe young enough to geta way with it. Went clubbing on Sat, everyone was in minis, leggings and flats.

notasheep · 12/12/2005 21:38

Chrismurfgirl,1984!!!!!!!!!! Oh my god i am feeling old,I didnt have my FIRST child till i was 36 and i am obviously older than that now

galaxy · 12/12/2005 21:41

I loved drainpipe jeans and burgundy flight jackets, oh and donkey jackets. Had a ra-ra skirt but never wear skirts now so even if I did like them, I wouldn't wear one.
