Highlights vs Lowlights

Looking for some advice please.

I have dark brown hair naturally. It is currently shoulder length although I am having it cut by a few inches at the end of the month. I had highlights in a while ago and have been growing them out (dying over them so not to get the two tone effect!), once my hair is cut they will be gone.

I can't decide whether to go for highlights again or low lights or both.

My hair is straight although a bit kinky and I don't have time in the mornings to straighten it properly (hence getting it cut to save the straggly look!)

I am 30 in two months Sad and have had a tough time over the last 18 months so wanted to revamp myself a bit.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Well if you're growing out highlights it sounds like it would be daft to put them back in?!
I'd go for lowlights - Actually that's something I want to do too... Easier to maintain too..
