Starsandcars · 07/09/2011 15:21

please help me decide whether this dress would look ok on me for an evening wedding less than two weeks away.

I am losing weight at moment and gone from a 20 to a 16! Really lacking confidence after seeing recent photos of myself!.

I'm 5ft 8 quite a large bust only ok feature are my legs!

Not sure how to do links it's the STELLA DRESS in the red

Thanks

This one?

I like it, but I think you could get better for that price. Well done on the weight loss!

Do you want sleeves? Was thinking of this Will look.

Starsandcars · 07/09/2011 16:42

That's the one tethersend

Really like the Phase 8 dress was hoping for sleeves as I prefer to cover my arms!

I do too. Not enough sleeves about!

Any colours other than red?

Starsandcars · 07/09/2011 16:56

Does not have to be red would try any colour other than black or White - I have been hiding in black for years!

Want to avoid maxi dresses aswell!

Agree not enough sleeves about I hate hiding a dress with a cover up - it kind of screams - I'm too fat for my dress.

What's your budget- about the same as the Boden?

It's so frustrating, there was a red satin Issa dress for about that price knocking around a while back in a 16 and NOBODY would buy it. Would have been perfect for you. Will keep looking.

Jammygal · 07/09/2011 17:24

I would defo try a few from phase eight......v. flattering on the fuller figure.....and I found the arm cut (at the top) is often flattering too ie it hides bingo wings etc.....so don't let the sleeveless thing put you off!!!!
Back in the summer I wore a phase eight dress to a wedding and I was determined to have sleeves until I tried one on!!!! It was fab even sleeveless!!

Boden will probably be less flattering on the fuller figure!

Starsandcars · 07/09/2011 17:27

Budget is about £100 there is 20 % of Boden until tomorrow so it comes in on budget

Just about to google to see if Debenhams is open late tonight so I can try the phase 8 dress on!

Thanks jammy the dress tether found does look very flattering. I have just read a thread below on the same dress and it sounds like the op is a similar shape to me and loves it so much she is buying two !

My concern regarding the Boden one was that it looks clingly especially the back view! That's why u thought better to canvass opinion first glad I did now.

This was the Issa one, but it's gone Sad

I'm not doing very well today!

Will keep looking.

tethersend · 07/09/2011 17:46

BTW, the phase eight one is fantastic. I hope it looks good!

Northumberlandlass · 07/09/2011 17:58

Stars, there is a thread going at the moment about the Verity dress...please try it on. It is THE most flattering dress I have EVER worn. I'm a 16 too & bothered about my arms...but once I tried it on there was no going back...Smile

Starsandcars · 07/09/2011 19:51

Will definitely try the phase 8 dress actually getting excited about trying it! Will have to wait until Friday now though as DS2 will not settle this evening!

I ordered this myself and it's stunning, the colour and texture of it are so sumptuous - looks way better in reality, the red is just so vibrant.

Love the Phase 8 and the Hobbs - what would you wear on top for the outside/ daytime bit of the wedding?

Mumsnut · 07/09/2011 21:37

20% off Phase Eight at the moment too.

KMidd · 07/09/2011 21:42

If it was really cold I think fur would look really glam with the hobbs dress - in a 1950's starlet kind of way, otherwise if it's indoors all day and not too cold I'd just leave them both as they are - pashminas, wraps etc ruin the look of many a fab dress Smile.

sammyjayne · 07/09/2011 22:06

I love that Verity dress but I am a 16 too and worry that whilst it looks lovely, once I get it on my body it will be bleurgh! Do you really think it is flattering to a size 16? I am smaller on top as I am rather bottom heavy and since having twins it all seems to sit round my tummy. Some of this can be held in by good pantage but only to a certain extent!

The oyster colour is lovely but out of stock and it seems online the red is out of stock in 16 too.

I have never had anything from Phase 8, it is really worth a look? My sister gets married in November and is 10 years younger than me so lots of the people there will be young, slim trendy things!

Any suggestions and sorry for the highjack!

magicmelons · 08/09/2011 08:59

I know you said no black but this is a lovely dress www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/warehouse/chatsworth/Adele-Dress/201423050 do love the Verity dress too.

Starsandcars · 08/09/2011 09:23

It's a late wedding starting at 4 so the style of dress suggested would work well without anything over it. No church so should be ok - depending on how I look.

Looking forward to going to the shops and trying the suggested dresses. Hope I won't be disappointed.

The Adele dress also looks pretty.

Suggestions of shoes to go with verity/red also welcome - red black nude or animal print?!
