I am bored of wearing jeans all the time and would like to get some casual dresses to wear with leggings this autumn/winter. Anyone know of any lovely ones?

Some nice reasonably priced ones here:

Don't know your budget..
love the print
may be too summery, but good indoor wear
i like the whole look of it

TrillianAstra · 05/09/2011 13:57

Dorothy Perkins often has a lot of dresses in the £20-£40 range.

AutumnWitch · 05/09/2011 14:01

I have the short sleeve version of this in navy and black which I'm going to layer with long-sleeved T's, cardigans, belts, scarves (not all at once!) over leggings or thick tights.

Cheap and very flexible - they must use giant models though, I'm 5' 4'' and they come a respectable couple of inches over the knee.

I may have to get some more now :)

Dancergirl · 05/09/2011 14:14

I know they're expensive but the White Company have some gorgeous jersey dresses and tunics.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/09/2011 18:32

I've just bought this

And I have my eye on this which is absolutely gorgeous irl.

overmydeadbody · 05/09/2011 18:34

Joe Browns have some nice dresses (amongst their awful tie died stuff)

overmydeadbody · 05/09/2011 18:37

Autumn Witch I am going to buy that H&M dress, thanks for linking to it!

tethersend · 05/09/2011 18:59

This is lovely and a great price.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/09/2011 19:43

I like that, Tethers. Have you seen it and if so, what's the quality like? I've never been in Peacocks before because I assumed it was like Primark and I no longer go in there, for various reasons.

tethersend · 05/09/2011 19:55

Peacocks quality varies greatly from garment to garment I find... although much better than Primark. Saw it IRL but didn't cop a feel.

BTW, was it your DD looking for a leather bag for college? Did she get one?

cakeoholic · 05/09/2011 20:19

I like this m&s one

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/09/2011 20:53

She got one in the Jones The Bootmakers sale, Tethers. Can't find it online now.

CointreauVersial · 05/09/2011 23:11

Oooh Remus - the stripy Autograph one you linked to is on my radar too. What's it like?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2011 18:05

It's lovely but quite snug-fitting across the tummy - I will need big pants, I think! :)

The little button details on the cuffs and at the back are really cute.

It's also a tiny bit longer than I wanted but I am a short-arse (5' 2) - it comes to just above the knee on me and I wish it was maybe two or three inches shorter (whilst my legs are still slim enough to get away with it!).

Satisfashion · 06/09/2011 18:19

Try New Look, Dorothy Perkins and try Joules!!
Casual dresses are a key trend for A/W so soon the high street will be full of them !!! x

CointreauVersial · 06/09/2011 18:40

Hmm...snug across the tummy....mine isn't too bad, but I was rather hoping it would "skim".

Luckily I'm tall (5'7"). Maybe I need to order it in and try it on. I also like this one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2011 19:41

Do try it on, Cointreau - dp and dd1 both said my tummy was fine in it, so it may just be me being paranoid.

I like the one you've linked to v much.

JamInMyWellies · 06/09/2011 20:01

I really like theis website for nice dresses I bought a couple of lovely ones last yr for wearing with thick tights and biker boots.

Try Warehouse just bought this

leftblank · 06/09/2011 20:31

Love your choices Jam. Pity i have no money at the mo!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2011 20:33

I've had my eye on that Warehouse one but the neck is too high for me.

CointreauVersial · 07/09/2011 13:03

How funny, Jam, I just bought a top from Warehouse in that same bird print fabric, after it was linked on another S&B thread.

pink4ever · 07/09/2011 14:06

Thanks to the poster who pointed out the h&M dresses. I bought the ones with skater style skirt in black and grey this morning! Also bought a lovely bug grey leopard print scarf to wear with.
Got my eye on black suede wedge boots from zara-tethers link please!- which I think will finish off the outfit nicely.

AutumnWitch · 07/09/2011 19:22

Pink and OMDB - you're welcome :). I'd better get down to H+M pronto or the rails will be stripped bare Wink

daaisy · 23/12/2011 14:47

Try dresses from M&Co - and they have a sale on already :)
