Long haul flight

Ladies, help please....... Long haul flight ON MY OWN, what should I wear????? Comfy but not frumpy. Any thoughts?

I always wear the most comfortable thing possible when flying long haul, and have layers as the temperature can be pretty variable. Usually cargo pants, a top and fleece. I take a pair of thick socks or travel slippers in my hand luggage and remove my shoes as soon as airborne. I don't really care what I look like in the plane for a long journey - I take out my contact lenses and wear glasses, and don't bother with makeup so that I can keep my skin hydrated. I've heard people say that you should dress smartly to maximise your chances of an upgrade, but in fact the time the only time I've been upgraded to business class was when I was at my most scruffy, after a month travelling in India.

Sorry just realised that that previous post (ie. "I don't care what I look like") is probably sacrilegious on S&B!

Definitely no make up, take moisturiser, lip balm, body lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, and a bottle of water. Wear what you like to board, but as soon as you get on change into leggings, vest, hoodie, thick bed socks, take a pashmina too. Take a clean pair of knickers in your hand luggage.
Before landing wash face, teeth, and change knickers and change back into normal clothes.

You will feel so much better for changing.

Thanks for your advice, think I will change on the plane. Had thought about leggings, but then I never feel right wearing them as I don't really have any suitable tops to go with them.

How long is the actual flight?

Having done the London - Sydney route a far few times getting changed is the way forward and even kills a few minutes of the flight.

If going between differing climates:

Leggings (navy blue or dark brown)
Long-sleeved bum-covering jersey top in similar colour
Short-sleeved tunic top over the top with pattern
Cashmere cardigan/hoodie
Ballet pumps/loafers

Remove tunic after take-off, before you eat. Put on socks.
Before landing, swap the top for the tunic.

I tend to wear cashmere trackie bottoms, converse/ballet pumps/sandals (depending on the climate i'm flying into), then a loose, comfy t shirt with big cashmere hoodie/cardigan.

For the plane I bring cosy socks and a big cashmere blanket/pashmina, and always change before I get off - generally into skinny jeans, and change my top.

In terms of makeup, don't wear any on, and moisturise like mad and drink loads of water whilst your on the plane. I generally just bring hand cream, moisturiser, lip balm, an eyelash curler to make me look more awake, and blusher/ bronzer so I look less like death once I arrive.

Checked in wearing black jersey maxi dress, cropped denim jacket & flip flops on last haul. It's an uncreasable godsend! I changed on flight into jersey greeny / grey harem pants with a soft waist band, cream vest and a cream wrap cardi (so it could be an extra blanket). And also big thick socks. And had a shawl in bag.

I take make up off on flight, slap on TONNES of moisturiser / eye cream throughout and clean teeth, cleanse face, brush hair and apply tinted moisturiser / bronzer and mascara before landing. And deodorant!

Changed back into maxi before landing.
