Please help me with jeans

I am after a new pair of jeans - I don't have a huge amount of money to spend but was thinking about getting some from Gap- they had 25% off this weekend. I live in my jeans - I have several pairs of skinnies and slim fit from H & M which fit fine as long as I wear a long top to cover my big bum. I tend to wear them with ballet pumps or long boots over.

(I am 5 ft 7, size 12 but a definite pear with large bum, hips and thighs)

Anyway - I really wanted a different shape of jeans because I have been seeing lots of nice shorter tops so thought something less tight might be more flattering and I could wear something that didn't come down to mid thigh.

I think I tried on every shape they had there but the only ones that I thought looked nice were the skinnies - and again I would need a long top. The bootcut type ones looked good but I am confused about shoes - what do you put on your feet in the winter?? I don't want to wear black ankle boots like I did last time around!

What shape of jeans do you wear, with a long or short top, and what on your feet??

Thanks

I think black boots with blue jeans make people look a bit PC Plod. I like brown boots with jeans, American tourist or not.

Gap Curve slightly bootleg dark jeans look fine with wedge heeled shoes or tan boots with a small, slightly chunky heel a bit like this imho.

Oh no too many buckles! Prince charming prince charming.........

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/08/2011 10:34

I just meant for the heel, Noddy.

I like them though. Then again, I'd still rather like a pair of VW pirate boots!

noddyholder · 31/08/2011 10:34

I still have those! They are not in a good state though but I still get them out from time to time

:) My dds get v cross with me when I talk about clothes 'I used to have' and complain that i should have kept EVERYTHING because they want it all. Yesterday's little sulk from dd1 was about a cream mohair mid thigh length jumper with silver sequins knitted into it. The fact that it probably cost thruppence in a charity shop and would have been falling to pieces when I chucked it didn't let me off the hook for a while.

Sorry for the hijack OP and back to shoes/jeans!

I don't like ballet shoes with bootcuts (although I am guilty of wearing just such a thing to pop to the shop etc occasionally); I think bootcuts need at least a little bit of height to avoid mega-frumpiness.

it's worth looking in Oasis for jeans too - they are about the same price as Gap and are deffo built for people with bums etc!

RupertTheBear · 31/08/2011 11:23

Thanks everyone - I will have a look in Oasis and Monsoon and look for some nice wedge boots.

Fly boots leak though: I will never buy them again

RupertTheBear · 31/08/2011 18:00

I have some in my basket at amazon - Mol in dark brown for 69.99. Should I not bother??
I have had my eye on them for ages.

They are lovely and comfy but you can only wear them when it is dry :)
