Novice seeks autumn shoe advice

Due to having large feet (8.5 and wide), I usually have about three pairs of shoes. I tend to wear sandals in the summer and then go straight into boots when the weather gets cold.

However, I am a bit sick of calf-high boots - can anyone suggest any shoes/short boots for a large-footed lady with large calves? I tend to favour the vintage, tea dress type look. I don't really do heels. I would like something sturdy because I tend to walk about a lot with a baby strapped to me. So no ballet pump type things. Any suggestions?

Can I join you? I'm the same sort of style all thought a smaller size & I need to find something different than my flip flops and boots, I also can't wear heels.

Don't have time at the mo to peruse sites (damn work) but Next boots are nice (sometimes) and go up larger and they do half sizes. Also New Look boots are pretty good on the whole and they do larger sizes too - also wider fit if that helps. There are lots of lower boots around at the mo - something a dark beigey colour with a very low stacked heel and some kind of buckle style would be versatile colour and style maybe?
