Black trousers - OK with brown boots?

Depends on what you're wearing on top IMO. To get away with black trousers and brown boots (or vice versa), the top has to tone in with the boots (not nec the same shade).

It's FINE - and quite smart - to wear brown boots with black trousers if, as NomdePlume says, the top is brown, too. Brown jumper or jacket.

If you have something else on the same colour as the boots then it's fine

Cheers. I'm going to try with black jumper complete with flash of jade from underneathy top thing plus brown beads to link to boots. But basically am now on the lookout for interesting brown based cropped trouser as boots too slim fitting for the skinny jean thang.
