hair cut for 7yr old with ear issues

could any of you lovely people help me with finding a suitable back to school hair cut for my DS?

I like it traditional short back and sides but unfortunately with his ears this would not be good. It's grown all summer so it's lovely and wild - just not ok for school really....please help, we're booked in for the barber next Saturday and I'd like to take a photo with me to help but haven't found anything despite hours of googling...any ideas?

yes Mad, I think it just needs a bit of taming. Longer at front and sides and trimmed at the back. I think long would look silly under his school cap. Thank you for you help though.
